S&W Revolver Photo thread (Page 5 of 23)
My most recent piece.
My wife called me and asked me to stop by and see her grandmother as she had found something that she wanted me to have. This belonged to her grandfather who recently passed away. She discovered this in a holster hanging in a hall closet with a jacket draped over it. Best I can tell it's a model 1905, caliber 32-20. Any of you guys who are knowledgeable on production dates by serial numbers that can help me out I'd appreciate it. Serial # is 96XXX. |

Picked this up today; It's a 681 that is mis-marked as a 68-1.  Looks cherry minus the factory target grips being refinished (although done quite well) Perhaps I'll get some ivory grips for it and make it a "BBQ gun"

You can always send it back and have them tighten it up or whatever if it has issues.  |

Most (but NOT all) of my S&W revolvers are police trade ins. They are older manufacture carried a lot, and fired very little. They are the best bang for the money!

It is a first year production Model 57 in 41 Magnum, the serial number ends in "00". Years ago, I worked for the last firearms distributor in the Bay Area and used to see Ogawa's work on a number of shotguns and revolvers that the owner had done for him. This was one of them that made its way to Nevada where I picked it up for a great price |

Since my initial post in this thread back in 2011, I have added a 3" Model 629 and I had my 5" Model 625 converted to a 4" Mountain Gun.....

Took advantage of the Christmas plant shutdown to do a little revolver work. Here's the latest configuration on my 617-6. Pulled the side plate off and replaced the previous Wolff 14 pound rebound with a 12 pound version. Added a Protocall Design .100 wide orange FO front sight and a taller .146 rear blade to help my tired old eyes. And finally dressed her up with some Ahrends Moradillo grips. I have to say, I'm pretty pleased with the results.  I really should invest some time making a light box, but here's the best I could manage on the kitchen table.
