Found the issue.
Takedown lever seems a little loose and trigger is dead when it's down a little, but the magazine holds it up....

Is it the 'wont fire with mag ejected' option, or is it just out of adjustment?

It will fire without a magazine inserted. The takedown lever is just loose somehow.

You sure you don't have a mag disconnect model? The lever shouldn't be that loose.

Yup. I dry fire it without a mag.
