had a Lew Horton three inch M629 years ago. one of the few guns that I deeply regret selling.

I have a Lew Horton . Three inch I guess.
It is of course somewhat of a handful but it is nowhere near a lightweight so not as bad as expected . My club holds plate shoots and every so often makes it a back up gun shoot for revolvers 3" or less . I shoot the 629 with light reloads just to be a wise guy |

Nice looking piece! I’ve got the same revolver (629 backpacker) and also put the same grips on. I’ve never shot it and probably won’t with magnums now. I’ve had heart surgery and just can’t handle heavy recoil after having my chest cracked. I am itching to run some specials through it.

wow, Warhawk, those look amazing. The color goes well with the bluing and what a terrific price. Have you shot any hot loads with this setup? THANKS!

I have a 629-4 5 inch with a curved hammer like yours, all my other N frames have a flatter hammer. I see that yours has the caliber marking roll stamped, my -4 is laser engraved. |

Mine is a S&W 296 (titanium/scandium frame, hammerless 44 spcl) and it too is REALLY snappy in recoil.
|
|
jmreagan uses the same grips I put on all my S&W wheel guns:
Attached File A good thing S&W still uses that GD trigger lock. Since I refuse to own one, it saves me a shit ton of $$$$$$$$$!!! |

This thread makes me want to shit out a flock of bald eagles. I do love .44 Magnum wheelguns.
Why, though, did S&W discontinue the Mountain gun? WHY? The newish 69 is OK, but 6 is more than 5 and I would happily take the few extra ounces. |

Got one ... First reasonably priced 29 I've ever met. Gotta love a "concealable" .44 mag. http://i.imgur.com/erQFUse.jpg http://i.imgur.com/xxXEe7M.jpg View Quote I just acquired a 69 and a 686+ both 3" and am enjoying revolvers again. 44 mag is a hoot out of the 69. The GF is afraid of shooting it. |
