So I spotted this 27–4 on the Internet. Took the car and drove 45 minutes to see it in person at the LGS.

He happened to have several model 27, in 2 4 6 8 3/8 inches

In the pile of revolvers there was something different, I went “Hang on, that’s not a model 27, let me have a look”

It’s a 6.5 inch model 29–2, pinned and recessed, from 1975 or 76

I still do not have a model 27, but the model 29–2 was mine for $900 including the combats grips of the 27-4

The LGS had also had a box full of old grips and he let me roam through it

I took six pairs for $200 and installed period correct targets with the football cut

Those Colt grips would look really good on my Officers Match revolver.

NICE!!! When I worked at a LGS a 29-2 p&r walked in the door as a potential trade-in. It walked out the door with me.

Too bad he didn't offer instruction on how to reduce the size of your photos before you put them in your post.

Love it. I've never been a "collector" but I can't own enough Model 29's.  That is a beauty.

I've been looking for a set of those n frame smooth targets.  PM me if you'd like to sell

Sweet!  Not a bad price, mine was $850 about 7 years ago.  A mint pin/recess 8 3/8" 29.

Nice find. I drooled over some 29’s in a shop a couple months ago. Still need to go back and fondle them again.

Very nice finds indeed.  I never find any older Smiths in the shops around here.  Mostly just new junk.  I'd have been on those M27's as well.

27-4s aren't all that desirable.

Nice score.  I would have been all over that 27-4.

Nice find!!  I would have jumped on that one.  I'm on the hunt for a 29, and a -2 would fit the bill nicely.

That Model 29 would have been my 1st pick too.

Man is that a beautiful gun.  GREAT SCORE.

The 27-2 for $6xx., would at least have a deposit on it, to ensure that it was still there for me to come back and get.

WHERE'S THIS LGS AT ?????????

There is no 27-2, it’s a 27-4 as described in my original post

Spent some time at the range sighting it in. It was hitting way left

And damn those reloads from 10 years ago were hot, 21 gr of (old) 2400 with a 240 gr FMC bullet.
