I picked up a 22/45 lite as a suppressor host and I'm wanting to put a mini red dot on the rail. Who makes the lowest picatinny mounted mini red dot?

Burris FastFire III

I love the ones I have!

Mount uses factory rail mount holes

Fastfire may be one of the best choices (as well as Vortex Venom, I think it’s called). A cheaper alternative, and one that I chose for the same purpose, is the Bushnell TRS-25, which costs about $50 new. The glass is actually almost perfectly clear! I read some old reviews and expected it to have that nasty blue tint that most Chinese red dots have, but I was surprised that it is just as clear as all my other (Holosun/PrimaryArms/Vortex/etc) $150 micro dots.

I put a Primary Arms micro that I won at CWT3 (thanks! @MARSH1) on mine. Not the lowest profile, but it's a solid optic.

I also like the Primary Arms micro dot.

I have one on a 22/45 that I use as a loaner for Bullseye matches.

I have a type 2 RMR on a Glock 19 and love the micro dots on pistols. Dont think I would like T1 sized optics on that lite weight of a pistol. Which of the already suggested mini dots mount the lowest?

I used a Nikon Spur. Needed to modify the optics plate to use it. I would go with the Fast Fire III or vortex viper/venom.

Is the Vortex Venom/Fast fire 3 actually lower than a TRS25?

I know the TRS25 is larger and heavier but is it actually higher?

Replace the rear sight with a fastfire 3.  Profit

No.  Those micro tube RDS with low mounts are lower.  For reasons unknown, I am able to acquire the dot faster with the tube RDS than FFIII/Venom's.  That is why all my rimfire pistols have Sig Romeo 5's on them.

Thanks guys, I'm going to try one of the vortex or PA mini red dots first after all the suggestions. If I dont like it on the .22 I have a AR pistol I can put it on.

I decided to give a vortex venom a try.

Now I’ll have a venom, two crossfire red dots, and two sparc ARs.

I might end up running the venom on my Marlin 336.

removed my Burris fastfireII and put on a primary arms micro. So far I prefer it. Burris went on my 10/22

Any reasonable way to get BUIS usable through the dot?

Not with the factory configuration, you would have to mill the receiver or mount very high sites.

I have about one of each of the dots discussed. I used to have a FastFire II, but sold it because it was too hard to find the dot sometimes. The tube actually helps draw your eye right down the center, whereas the flat window without a tube can leave you searching for several seconds sometimes.

If you go with Primary Arms then make sure it is the new Advanced edition because those have the 10,000 hour battery life AND a lifetime warranty like Vortex. Holosun, and others make basically the same thing. The body, lenses and dot on the TRS-25 are basically the same as well, it is just 1/3rd the price, so a shorter battery life and not as solid attachments (perfect for a non-defense weapon like a 22LR in my opinion). The best value of all right now I think is the TruGlo micro dot, which is a rebranded Holosun for 2/3rd the price (just over $100), and it has the 10,000 hour battery life too, except no lifetime warranty (oh, and it has the auto on/off, unlike the PA one, which has a turret like the TRS-25)..

Here’s mine:

To summarize:

Bushnell TRA-25: ~$50+, Is proven to be rugged and hold true, as all of these are, no frills, 1yr warranty
TruGlo Tru-Tec 20mm: ~$120+,  Auto on/off, 10k hour battery life, 1yr warranty (plus riser)
Primary Arms Advanced: ~$150+, Knob like Bushnell, Lifetime warranty (riser optional, I think)

Suppressor sights would be fine. But I could not find anyone who makes them.

The idea is to allow my wife to learn to find the dot by lining up the sights first. (This is how DocGKR recommends learning the dot.)

Primary Arms advanced micro on my MKIV.  Tried quite a few different red dots and this was the best I felt

Where do you get a dovetail mounting plate for a FFIII and a 22/45? All the ones I find say they won't work with the 22/45. Wanting to set this up as my new squirrel hunting rig

I use this one https://smile.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000UV3ZPG

Don't see why the 22/45 would need a special one. The dovetails and OD of the receivers are the same across all the models, right?

Lots of good options. Here is the Nikon Spur I use. It has very little tint compared to the vortex or Fast Fire. However the mounting plate needed modification to fit the spur. I had a PA dot but it was heavier than I wanted on a 22/45 as I am trying to keep it light.

OuterImpact plate. It does not fit the Nikon so you need to drill two additional holes to match the mounting pegs on the Nikon.

Does it replace the factory pic rail?

The stormwerkz mount works really well for a Burris FF3. Very low profile. They say it is for the MKIII so you would have to confirm with them if you want to use on a MkIV.

Here it is on my MkIII Lite.

That’s the same setup I’ve got. It’s perfect!
