Well, I ran Paras in USPSA for quite a while, starting in the late ‘90s. I mostly used a P16 in Limited Division. I had a full blown .38 Super Open gun built on a Para frame. It was likely a .45 frame that had to be milled for a ramped barrel. I say this because it was cut for the STI ramp, not the Para ramp. I shot that gun until the frame cracked. I then had the top end installed on an STI frame. I had a custom gun built on a P14 frame. I sold it plus a Glock 20 and some “hi cap” mags back during the Clinton ban. Together, it was enough to buy two M11/9 SMGs. I still have the P16, and had been shooting it the past couple of years in USPSA Limited Optics, shooting .40 minor, with a dovetail optic mount. But I recently bought a Kimber 2K11 for that division. |
| I liked them and wanted one when they were new, but even the gun shop told me they weren't reliable. It seems like Para never really acknowledged the problem or put forth any effort to make them reliable. |

I think the mag design was the weak point. Clean and with a good spring, flawless. Even a little dirt in the mag caused issues. Still have a mag brush. Also still have a P14 that was built on a frame kit and passed around a few guys in the pistol club. Well used when I got it, Then I used it to hit B class uspsa. Still running, loose as heck. |

I think the only time I had a jam was with some odd shaped wadcutter bullet. |
