So I managed to recoil my fiber optic front sight out.

What should I use to secure it back in place?

Did the sight come out of the dovetail? Or did the rod come out of the sight.

The rod.

I watched some vids but I think the front of the sight has a smaller ID than the back. So melting I dont think will work.

A new rod and a lighter

Not a RIA, but I put a new fiber in a 1911 front sight, only mushroomed the back side and put a drop of superglue on the front.

It has stayed in for a couple years now.

I use the lighter for both ends of my fiber rods. It actually makes the head get smoother and it seems to brighten it up quite a bit.
It only takes a second or two of heat to mushroom it out, not enough to hurt the blade at all.
I do use one of the jet flame lighters that is like a mini torch flame.

I think that's what they did, nothing else makes sense.

I think I'll switch to green.

Does anyone know what diameter the rod is?

Idk what size rod they use, but that might be the problem.  You sure you have the right rod?  If there is a hole front and back, that rod should go all the way through.

Nope, only one way in.

The superglue thing has held up well.  Many rounds of “snappy” .40 and the rod is still there.
