I'm NOT any kind of expert on the Colt Single Action Army, but by the serial number on the butt it was made in 1890, which would make it a black powder frame.
Check for serial numbers on the bottom-front of the frame and front end of the trigger guard, they should match or parts have been replaced.
The problem is, the US Army had stopped using the Single Action by 1892 except for pulling older guns out of storage, shortening the barrel to 5 1/2 inches, and sending them to the Philippines were the Colt New Army double action revolvers in .38 Long Colt had failed to be effective against Moro warriors.
Since your gun "apparently" has an 1890 serial number the US military had long since stopped buying these and the "US" stamp on the side of the frame doesn't "fit".
Again, look for other serial numbers.
So many Colt SAA revolvers have been worked over and parts been replaced it's often hard to say exactly what you have.
