Has anyone had good success with using the new follower and base plate with the 13rnd or 10rnd mag? I took the guts out of one my 17rnd mag, and put it into the 13, and it was able to hold 15 rounds. I’ll try it out at the range later this week.

I've run ~250rds without issue across 4x 10rd mags with updated internals (follower, locking plate)

Also setup a couple with +2 baseplates, which required light modification to the locking plate but gets 14+1 in roughly the same size as the stock 10rd finger plate

I ordered a couple 17rnd gut kits and a new 13rnd mag. I’m thinking I’ll cut the new spring to the same length as the 13rnd mag, and test from there with new internals.

I put 7 mags through it today using the upgraded internals with a shortened spring. Using 115gr Fed aluminum case, it functioned flawlessly for all 105 rounds.

I put 4 mags, 60 rounds, through it today. Same ammo, and no malfunctions.

Nice! How many rounds does the 13-round magazine hold with the updated internals? 15?

hkparts +2, I put them on before the factory 13rd mags were released - I’d go with those now w/ updated internals for 15+1

So are you just cutting the new spring and if so to what length?

Am I correct in assuming that for the 10 round flush magazine with the new follower and locking plate that you would get 12 rounds?

Another four mag dumps today. No malfunctions for all 225 rounds of Federal 115gr aluminum case so far.

Just put the new internals in a 10 round (with updated flush floorplate) magazine and a 13 round magazine (keeping the original floorplate/finger rest thing). Each are increased in capacity by 2, so the 10 rounder is a 12 rounder now, and a 13 rounder is a 15 rounder now.

L-R: 13sk, New 17, old 15 (the spring has shrunk about 1" from use)

Follower no longer has the spring guide.
And it is a cup to guide the spring
Attachment Attached File

Base pad is now a cup, instead of flat inside and locking tab is both thinner, and front foot is gone.
Locking tab now only retains the base by a taller button.

New 17rnd springs have smaller , and longer top loop.

So,  old springs fit in the new followers.New 17rnd springs *do not* fit old followers.
Attachment Attached File

Put 17rnd follower and baseplate locker into 13rnd SK mag, and you have a 15rnd mag.

Last round will be *TIGHT* using older base designs
Without the new cupped base, the last 1/8" really compresses the spring to the max.

BONUS:
10s do become 12s, including using old P2000sk baseplates.

P2000sk baseplate is still best 10rnd baseplate.
Just trim the front corners to fit it in a P30sk.

So you're using the 15 to 17 round mag conversion kits, correct? And no issues so far in the 10 round mags?

I couldn't decipher what you're calling what, that's why I asked Leib.

A magazine has 5 parts:
Follower
Magazine body
Magazine Spring
Magazine Insert
Floorplate/Baseplate

Your post contained nothing about reliability, which I asked Leib about.

Took the VP9SK out yesterday, both the 10 (now 12) and 13 (now 15) round magazines work fine.

Right on. I'm leery to use it in a carry gun just because it hasn't been tested extensively you know? Same reason I haven't bought any shield arms mags for the 43X.

My 10 rounder gets 13 with the new follower and base plate. I'm going to use the original follower with the new plate, but I've cut the follower to the same height on the rear as the new one. It holds 12, but I'm thinking it won't be so hard on the spring.

I know this isn’t GD so I’m holding back a bit here…

But how many rounds does it need to be tested to prove it works. It’s the exact same measurements and tube as the longer 17 mag except the length. You come across a bit paranoid. How extensive does it need to be tested? I have about 500 rounds through my SK modified to 15 rounds and 12 rounds. My P2000 has been increased from 13 to 15 with about 400 rounds through it. Not one hiccup. These are oem parts and fit as oem parts should. Go invest a few $ and try it. You’ll like it.

I’ve got about 400 rounds through my sk, mainly with the 13 to 15 round conversion. I put 6 mags-72 rounds through the 10 to 12 round mag with no hiccups earlier.
