I like the idea of a SBH hammer and a new set of grips. These white ones are nice, but I would prefer a set of the checkered black ones. |

I have an original Model 3 S&W but as you know it is quite old and I can't really shoot it a lot . So ... That leaves us with the Uberti but honestly I don't mind . If the American gun companies can't get it together enought to produce what we want , then so be it . This makes my fourth break top from Uberti and they all have performed well . I normally prefer blued guns but this one is a beauty and the screws are fire blued

I had always wanted a .22LR/.22WMR Convertible single action but current financial issues made that just a wish but I finally got the exact one I wanted for my birthday a couple years ago. I didn't really know what to expect but I was extremely pleased by how it felt and shot. It's a hard sensation to describe when you're used to shooting a .45 Colt SA but it might be even MORE fun! Mines extremely accurate in .22LR and .22mag, combined with the weight and size it would make a perfect trail/survival gun. Anyone who loves shooting single actions will really love .22 versions of those guns. I considered a 10 shot model but when I thought about the advantage of having an extra 4 shots before reloading, it reminded me I would spend even more time unloading those extra cartridges and reloading them. For me, the traditional 6 shots then a quick unload/reload was a better option but everyone has their own preferences. Here's mine, a Lipsey dealer exclusive, Ruger Single Six .22LR/.22WMR Convertible.

And as anticipated previously, here we get a better look at the Uberti Cattleman 1873 SAA in (oh) .22LR For comparison, below, its bigger caliber (and brand) sister Colt in .45LC  1873 SAAs by SoloDallas, on Flickr  1873 SAAs by SoloDallas, on Flickr The pictures do the guns justice; they are as pictured. Haven't shot the Uberti yet; picked it up yesterday (after the usual jail-time requested here in SoCal for handguns). Notes: the Uberti is - surprisingly - considerably heavier. Much heavier. Why, Phil? Because. Maybe different metals and - for sure - barrel is thicker (it's got the contour for .22LR as opposed to the larger hole - hence lighter - .45LC). Uberti cylinder holds 10 rounds of .22LR (please note: this is not the Stallion! This is the Cattleman in .22LR; i.e., same identical frame as the bigger caliber Uberti Cattlemans out there) Will proceed to shooting time permitting. Well since you asked .....
I estimate it being built at S&W around the time Custer met Crazy Horse on the Little Big Horn . It is stamped 1874 on the Butt posterior to the lanyard ring . Was accepted and stamped at the Kure Naval Base in Japan . This much I know . Renickel finish in working condition . It had some mechanical issues that have been addressed in a drawn out manner but yeah pretty much my grail gun

Dang those Colt's are sweet!! That engraved nickel plated model with the pearl steers head grip gives me fuzzy feelings all over my body...yeah, I like it that much! I don't suppose you would be willing to will that to me would you? Not that I'm planning on having you killed immediately after or anything...just saying.

God damnit that CCH is beautiful. I need to learn how to recreate the consistent blues and purples. what camera are you using? Are you able to use natural light? No I didn't mean taking pictures. I meant doing my own color case hardening. |
