Honestly I haven't shot it much. I need to take it back to Magnaport and have Kenny fix a misfire issue. I am getting light primer strikes. I think it has excessive end shake.

I know the mainspring isn't too light. He messed with that. I think it needs a shim or two in the cylinder between the crane.

I'd like to carry it.

My S&W Model 28-2/27 hybrid.

This was my very first handgun I bought used when I was a kid. As you can see the frame and cylinder  is heavily blue worn. I would guess it was a cop's gun at one time. I think I paid $250 for it at a gun show in the early 90's.

Fast forward a few years and then I was managing a busy local gunshop and we gave Magnaport alot of guns for brakes, porting and drill and tapping for scope mounts. I gave Kenny this Highway Patrolman for an action job. I polished the trigger and bobbed the cylinder release.

A little time goes by and he calls saying the forcing cone is eroded. He said he would keep the barrel but give me a sweet deal on another barrel and I had my choice. A 5" or 3.5" Model 27 barrel. I'm a huge Skeeter Skelton fan so I picked the 5". So now it is a slicked up full action job Magnaport custom M-28/27 hybrid which is why the frame is the standard blue and the barrel is the high polish.

Been wanting a 64 no-dash for several years and was the only bidder on a gun broker auction for what I think was a great price. A quick once over with some mothers mag polish removed nearly all of the light scratches it had. The magnas on it were fairly worn so I ordered some Grashorn elk no-bark grips. Wanted to harken back to victory model grips. Love the looks and balance of the tapered barrel. Now to order some leather!

Wow that looks great.

Speaking of victory style. Do you want modern leather or something retro for field carry?

I just recently picked up a reproduction flap holster that is the best cheap holster ive ever seen $40.

The sandpaper I used on the rust and pitting and Birchwood Casey Super Blue I used to finish it all off.

Guess it could be worse, but I expect some collectors might have a fit.

Looks good to me! I think if refinishing will make you enjoy the gun more, go for it (I also parked a worn model 10 sooooo….)

I'm in the business of buying guns, not selling guns. So i'll take a little hit on the value

Looks good to me, but I'm a shooter not a "collector".  A mechanically sound but cosmetically blemished S&W or Colt at a good price is very appealing to me.

As of last Monday I've had this gun half my life. Got a quality holster for it finally. I'll admit Tiger King pushed me to get a holster to carry it. Can't wait to see my boss's reaction when I walk in open carrying it tomorrow.

1958 S&W Model 35
"Model of 1953 .22/32 Target"
Six shot flat-latch I frame .22LR

Some honest cosmetic wear & tear but seems to have been packed around a lot and shot very little. Still locks up tight!

Grips are definitely not original, this revolver would have shipped with diamonds, but for what I paid I'm not complaining.

I thought I would shoot it with mostly CCI Standard Velocity because of its age and diminutive size, but likes Minimags! Respectable accuracy with the Standard, but a tack driver with the higher velocity ammo. I don't think it's doing it any harm, still plenty stout for a .22LR.

Picked up this vintage S&W brand holster on ebay. It was used and needed a little TLC, but I keep black leather dye on hand. S&W branded holsters for 6" I/J frames are little hard to find and can be pricey, and I practically stole this one so again, no complaints.

PS: 1958 is my birth year.

I didn't intend to walk out of the store with a gun yesterday.  Then my wife said "Oh, it's so cuuuuuuute!  Does it kick?".  Well, Honey.  I guess I'll have to buy it so you can see...

S&W .32 Hand Ejector 3rd Model, circa the late 1930s.  My first I-frame.  Crappy phone camera and the photographer is pretty crappy too.

That is a great looking gun.

Here’s one I’ve been messing with lately. My Dad bought a spurless hammer off eBay and have it to after I had talked about wanting to convert it to DAO. I’ve been carrying it lately in a 1791 Gunleather holster.

Nice!  Jaruwan grips?  What sights do you have on that one?

I’ve got a set of Ivory VZ grips on mine, but they will be changed out once I decide what I want.

EDIT: or is that a 66?  Mine is a model 69.

Yea its a m66. The front sight is a meprolight and the rear is c&s u notch. I widened the rear sight just a smidge but besides that i absolutely love the sight picture.

Not sure who made them. I think there are a couple different thai grip makers.

I had a set of vzs on it that i loved how they felt untill 50-100 magnums. I need something a little wider. Pachymers are great but i really like wood. These seem to be a similar shape and cover the backstrap.

I have another set of thai grips that cover the backstrap as well but get narrow up at the web of my hand.

I haven't shot with these yet.

Got her a little dirty last weekend, 200 rounds of Black Hills cowboy loads and a box of the Sig 230gr JHPs.  Accuracy was more than acceptable for a pre-1980 25-5 with a supposedly loose chamber, I beat up a spare tire on the berm at 100 yards most of the morning with boring regularity.  Any ideas for a safe way to remove the burn marks on the cylinder on a plated gun?

Yeah, MPro7 and a bronze brush is totally fine.

Stay away from metal polishing cloths. You'll probably never (safely) get them completely clean like you can with a stainless gun.

Thanks, Yes there are several Thai grip makers that sell on ebay.  But Jaruwan is one of the cheapest and without a doubt has the best quality.  He even gets some nice wood from time to time. I *think* he's the only one making grips with the checkering pattern like yours.
