Mim parts get replaced but even if I bought a 1911 with all machined parts I would still replace them so I'd have a set of spares. |

I had a few TRPs way back when and always love the gun except for the front strap checkering. After being out of the 1911 game for a while, I heard through the grape vine that SA offered a defanging service and refinish. Is that still the case? If so, I might be in the market for another TRP. Otherwise I thinking of getting a Garrison and doing some pretty basic mods.

I’m not a huge fan of the checkering either, but I ran some 200 grit sandpaper over it a little and it made a world of difference and you can’t even tell. I was figuring it would look like I used some sandpaper on it, but it doesn’t.

Interesting they got Jason Burton to speak on their behalf.
I guess he figures that a 2k gun is not going to be cutting into his market niche any time soon. |

That's getting into Les Bear and RRA money. The TRP I handled at brownells just a month ago wasn't for as well as they used to be so I'm having a really hard time seeing what they've done to the line.
It's still a solid $1200 pistol like they've always been. Not $1800. And this coming from someone who has almost exclusively purchased Springfield 1911's. |

I'm sorry if the above info makes no sense. I'm kind of an idiot.

I received my TRP about two weeks ago. I have taken it out to our range the last two weekends.
Overall, I shot about 500 rounds. A mix of Winchester Service Grade 230gr, CCI Blazer 230gr, A mix of HP 185gr-230gr including SIG, Hornady, and Federal. My hand loads with 230FMJ and Hornady XTP HPs (230 and 200gr). I have shot it using a mix of the three included MEC-GAR magazines, A Wilson Combat, Sig Sauer magazines and the MEC-GAR magazines that came with my Operator. A little back story, I had/have problems with HPs feeding in the Operator with any magazine. So here is my impression of the new TRP. Shoots great, very accurate. No problems feeding anything I had, no problems with HPs. I really like this. The 20LPI front strap checkering is very aggressive. It would be brutal to take a weeklong class with it. Full magazines insert very smooth/positively, better than the Operator. The magwell helps. I'm not a fan of tritium sights so I painted them, front orange, rear white. works for me. I like wood grips on a 1911 but these are very effective so I'll probably keep them as is. The fit is excellent. Great trigger. The only problem I encountered was with the front site roll pin that keeps the tritium vial in, started to work itself out after about 450 rounds. I tapped it back in with my knife handle. I thought about buying one but I'd have to replace all the MIM parts, the full length guide rod and the stock (grip) screws. A 1911 should have slotted stock screws.

Have they said whether or not they will do the commander guns in 9mm? They look great.

Missed out on the combat operators. To anyone comparing DW to the TRPs, I encourage you to handle both. I’ve handled a ton of both and my personal TRP (2023 production) is fantastically fit and has a much more positive thumb safety than any DW I’ve handled. |

I really like the looks of these new TRP's. Trying to decide what I like better, the Classic in commander length or the black full-size with the rail

Handled two of these today. Both were really nicely fit and felt great. Really good triggers, too.
I have to say, the cerakote actually tones down the 20LPI quite a bit compared to my stainless TRP. I absolutely love the way the thumb safeties feel on both engaging and disengaging the safety. I’m gonna try to hold off in case they release a 9mm variant, but I really want one of these. |

One thing I don't like about the TRP is the ambi safety.

Agreed, I used the tutorial that John Harrison has on his website for fitting a thumb safety but I’m sure there are many more. |

I did pick up the standard TRP , I bought from a friend who wanted the new TRP Commander , the full size I bought is maybe a 2022 build gun classic looking no rail , it almost has a blue looking finish , its all factory does any one know what the finish it is ???? Now my buddy went and bought the new TRP Commander and it was not the exact one he wanted , then found the one he should have waited on, and now wants to give me a deal on the other new trp he has .

I went and took a look at the new TRP classic Commander new in the box , 3 mags , he said he would take the old one back and wanted 250 , I took one look at the new one and jumped , I did see the price on the box for the new TRP was 1769 were he bought it at . I got to fire maybe just 40 rds and it was very smooth , hit right on no problems with just the short range trip , did carry it in a Galco brown open top holster .
