Did any of you get a new Shield Plus O.R. with a dead front night sight ? I read on another site that S&W has been letting quite few get shipped with dead front Night Sights.
I think I'm going to test shoot the pistol to make sure it works well before I ship it back just for the sights.

Even the rear N.S. seem dull to me and I've had a few put on pistols since you needed a Nuclear Regulatory Agency Registered Gunsmith to install them on you pistols.
Say HI to the Boomer :) Me

And from what I've read, they send you a new front sight for you to put on. And supposedly a bear to get the sight on an off the slide. Oh Joy !

ANYONE ?

Not with a shield, but with the sig 365 xl. After a few hundred rounds I started working it into carry when I realized the front sight was dead. Sig replaced but took too long.

I changed the sights on mine to Ameriglo, much more visible front sight and wanted it to match the rest of my carry guns.  The front sight on mine was not a problem to remove at all using the Wheeler pusher.  It was tight but not excessively. I've changed the sights on my other three M&P's also with no problems.  Hope this helps.

SIG sent me a replacement when one of mine went bad. Brass drift made quick work of it. I would probably get a pusher, but oh well. S&W should probably do the same or you send the slide to them....

I’ve changed sights on multiple M&P pistols and a bunch of others.  I have a nice sight pusher, but honestly I find it faster and easier to use a brass or aluminum punch and a hammer.

Installing new sights typically requires some minor filing on the new sights.

Dawson Precision has a great video tgst walks through the process of installing new sights.

Believe it or not, just last week. Bought the warranty from the LGS, and they have ordered the front sight from S&W, and are going to have their smith at the store do it. Not shipping the gun back for it.

Because it's mine, all mine.

I put Ameriglo Protectors on mine. All black rear with bold yellow ring around tritium front.

A buddy has a sight tool I can borrow so if they send me the front sight I'll put it on and go from there.

Small pistols I mostly use just the front sight anyway, even though the rear sights are also dimming. The right side noticeably so.
The main thing is to test fire the pistol to see if it's 100%, before I sink a few dollars on upgraded sights.
It's a real bunch of BS that S&W let this pistol out the door with the sight's so screwed up.
It's not a major deal, but adds money to a pistol I had got cheap, because it was cheap.

I still might send the pistol back, just because it's starting to piss me off.

Went to the range where I bought the gun today. Let off about 40 rounds of 12 gauge while I was there, and shot the shield plus for the first time. Nice little shooter.

On the way out, I stopped to ask about it. They took a brand new slide off of a gun they had in the shop, new in stock, and said they would warranty the slide with that gun. So now, I have night sights.

Course, they did this after I shot at the range. Oh well, I got to do an ot shift tomorrow, but there's always another excuse for a range day. Just to check, of course. Sweet little shooter. Felt like nothing after about 40 rounds of 12 gauge.

I emailed the company and they emailed me a shipping label. I'm going to shoot it tomorrow to make sure there're no other problems before I ship the pistol back.

I just had emergency gallbladder surgery so getting power to go the range is not so important, But tentatively scheduled for tomorrow.

I had outpatient gall bladder surgery in 2008. Was out the same day. Told me not to go home and ride my bike, but did I listen?

My surgery was totally out of the blue with pain that I and the Drs thought I had a Aortic dissection. They put me on IV antibiotics for 4 days before the surgery because of sepsis and how infected it was.
Buddy that's going to go with me shooting tomorrow had his out and was no problem like yours either, except for the pain of the stones.
Doing OK enough to go shoot tomorrow though, and back to work on Monday.

I can't wait to try the pistol out, but then I'm packing it up to send it to S&W which sucks.

Edit to add... Went to the range and put a bunch of ammo  through the pistol and it works fine. Time to clean it and pack it up to send back Monday.
Bringing it to pack and post, lets see how long until it gets shipped back to me. Monday is 4/11/22

Called S&W yesterday 5/2 and was told 6 weeks. They said the got my pistol on the 18th so at least 4 more weeks. I had the pistol for a week before I sent I back. LOL

I just called to check up on any progress and the guy I talked to told me at least another month.

So if you send a pistol back to S&W for repair expect  them to have it at least 2 months.

Holy shit If I would have known, I would have just bought a set of sights and did it myself. Well at least I got to shoot it once before I shipped it back.

Yeah, that sucks. Repair times are off the charts now. Hard to get spares, manning cuts, and all the other wonderful things that socialism did for us.

Now it's getting shipped today and supposedly delivered Friday. I figured when I gave the guy on the phone my RMA # he didn't look it up, he just told me another month.  Now to see what was done. I'm figuring it's the same as when I shipped it, or some other problem. Lol.

Hopefully it's all good.

Should be. Just a bad batch. More labor involved than anything I guess.

They're great little shooters.

Not dead but one of my M2.0s came out of the box with a front night sight that looked terrible.  The polymer over the tritium vial was more dark brown than clear.
