Just picked it up, haven't gotten to the range yet.  It will have a steady diet of 100% handloads, mostly cast.

Pretty gun, feels good. Any suggestions on a field holster for it?

Very nice! Looks great. How fast will you be pushing your loads?

Nice pistola OP! I've had the same model for a couple of years now and the most comfortable way to carry it for me is the Sourdough pancake holster with the Chesty Puller rig. Really well made and a lot more comfortable than carrying a 6 1/2 inch barrel N frame in a hip holster.

I will mostly be staying at normal to +P loads; I doubt I'll go too far. Not sure I want to quite get to 44 magnum in this one.
Shhots nice, though.

Not the gun to push the 45Colt in for sure. Standard loads of 250 at 900-950 will pass clean through a deer. Save it for the rugers

The Simply Rugged Sourdough pancake holster is a good field holster.  You can get accessory straps for it to turn it into a chest holster if you wish.  I have one for my Dan Wesson .44 that I use for deer hunting and it distributes the weight of the revolver very well.

I like the level of protection the holster gives the revolver from brush.  I hunt primarily in thick cedar swamps and slips, slashes and slop are part of the game.

Been wanting to snatch one of those up, seems like there was always something I wanted a little more that would jump in front of it.

Good find OP!  My favorite hunting holsters for the N frames are the Desantis Dual Angle Hunter and the Galco Phoenix dual angle.  I like that they can be worn either strong side or cross draw and are lined to protect the gun's finish.  When stand hunting I most often wear them cross draw as there is less game spooking movement when drawing the handgun.

OP, nice Revo for sure!

03RN... You have some of the coolest gear bro. And you and I agree on 99% of everything "Woods-Gun" and Revolver related as well. Right on man... More pics of your leather and gear please!

Below is my favorite leather rig... Albeit for an M24-3 ".44Special"... But it's a solid holster rig for sure and pure Smith & Wesson "Americana..."

I have been wanting a 45 Colt S&W 25 for decades, finally broke down and ordered it.  It's a hoot.

What are you shooting out of it?

9g unique under a 255gr swc is my favorite. A good thumper but easy on powder. Should get about 1k fps.

I load as light as 7.0 Unique, but it varies. I have been using up some old stocks of Vectan powders, transitioning to American stuff. Zip, Herco, Unique, et al.

I have settled on 10 gr Unique as the main load; about 1000 fps with 225 grain bullet. Shoots very well.

I would change out the grips.  I have that model and whoever designed those grips has never shot them.  Too narrow for me.  I have replaced them on both my Model 25 and 29 Classics.

I put some G10 grips on it. VZs.
They are thin, but work pretty well.

I got a 125th year anniversary 25-3 45LC about 18 years ago that was still in it's original shipping box with all the little nicknacks for 750 bucks.

I shoot it from time to time because sentimental value is worth more than monetary value.

At some point I figured if I ever have kids I would pass it on.   But I am not having kids so basically the gun is nothing more meaningful than a Glock at this point in terms of just being another gun.

I threw a set of hogue rubber grips on mine.  Thinner than the stock S&W wood, but not so small like the panel grips make it to be.  Looking for a 4" 25-9 to compliment my 6.5" 25-5.

Altamont is the source of the current S&W "factory" grips. They make a pretty grip, but they are pretty much clueless when it come to real-world ergonomics.

If you get the chance to handle or shoot an N frame with the VZ G10 grips, try them out. Very comfortable. They feel pretty thin, but shoot really nicely.
As a data point; I put a palm swell Hogue on my CZ P-09 because the grip was to slab/thin. But I like these.

Check your cylinder throats.  They tend to be oversized.
John Linebaugh actually carries Model 25 vs. a Ruger and has
some things to say as to the nature of loads for it.

Assuming it cast large enough, the RCBS 45-270 SAA mold is
a great bullet.  Mine drops about 278 grains with my alloy.  9-9.5
Unique pushes them 1000-1050fps around 45 ACP +P pressures.
This load isn't safe for any original colts or replicas, but I think it
is a good match for the Model 25.

This was only an issue with the early pinned barrel models.  My 1980 25-5 measures between .455-.457, a newer production gun such as the OP's should be around .453".

The cylinder throats slug at .4515 and .452, the barrel at 451. Perfect for cast bullets, which it shoots very well.

As much as I've always wanted a 25-5 in 45Colt the erratic sizes of the throats on the vintage 25-5 made it less accurate. I like accurate guns more than just nice looking ones. Maybe I can overcome my hatred of "The Hole" in the newer S&W revolvers and get one of the newer 45's.
