If it’s a factory blued 3” 57 it’s worth twice that price, if not more. The stainless 657’s are pricey and it took me quite a while to find that. Get it!!

If you buy it and decide it’s not what you want, let me know. I’d be very interested.

I'm not a fan of the .41 caliber but I would buy that in a heartbeat.

I like shooting moderate loads of 170 grain jhp in my 3” 657.   Nice get.

So my 3" model 57 turned into a 4" model 57-1 with aftermarket grips. Not sure of the value, but went ahead with the deal anyways.  I just have a thing for these older Smith's and it's one that I didn't have.

Nice old Smith.  I'm a .41 nut since I started reloading my uncle's 57 back in 84'.  I got 4-5 bullet molds of that caliber and several .41s.  Even took one of my 58s to Germany late 80s.  To shoot this gun enough you need to reload.

Yeah, I guess I need to get some dies now.  I wonder how hard it is to find brass?

*Edit*  pretty easy to find new brass.

Wasn’t aware they were running that much, is it just the 3” barrel?

Nice looking Model 57!  I have been reloading for the .41 Remington Magnum since 1974 and still use 2400 powder that I started with back then.  It is a good performer and I much prefer it over the .44 Magnum.  You will be liking that revolver.

I've been a  fan of the .41 magnum for a long time and I finally found a S&W 4" model 657 about 12 years ago that I got for $900. It's a great pistol and has a little less recoil than a S&W model 29 that I had back in the 90's, but, it's still a hand full. I switched out the grips for some Hogue smooth Pau Ferro grips. I prefer smooth grips to checkered and they don't slip like people claim they do. Once I found out that shooting the .41 magnum with smooth grips was a lot more comfortable than with checkered grips, I started changing the checkered grips on my 1911 pistols to smooth grips. The main cartridge that I shoot out of it is the Remington 210 gr JHP.

I think you got an OK deal. Those look like Thai grips which are about $50 on eBay. The gun itself isn't a high demand one (that would be the 57 without a revision, and especially the S-prefix serial guns) but is nice and should make a great shooter. The S&W N frame is perfect for the .41; some think it's too light for .44 Magnum and too much for a .357.

I have owned numerous N frames over the years.  To me, the 41 Magnum has quite a bit less recoil than the 44 Magnum.  It was comfortable to shoot while the 44 Magnum would get a bit uncomfortable after a number of rounds.

That is a nice one.  Dont sell it, ever.
