So I am looking to change out the pachmayer grips on my model 19. The front seam just annoys the hell out of me when gripping the gun. I've tried loosening and repeating but can't get them comfortable.

I am looking at replacing them with some VZ grips but looking for some feedback on the two versions of the G10 they have.  So how sharp and pronounced are the ridges on the tactical diamond style?  Does anyone have them that finds them comfortable?  Also looking at the smoother v320 grips but those look absolutely smooth?  Are they or do they have any grip at all?

If I bother to get new grips it'd be JM grips.

Not really liking any with finger grooves.  I think that is part of the problem with the pachmayer I have right now.  Not only is the seam uncomfortable but I find it hard to get a consistent grip with the finger grooves.

I did look at the roper and the coke bottle grips from altamont in walnut.  I wonder how much of a difference is there in size between the roper and coke's?  I was kind of leaning towards the coke bottle since they have a palm swell.

They make them w/o finger grooves as well. I prefer the rosewood above the others just for looks.

Is you m19 square butt?

I have both checkered and uncheckered vz grips. I prefer the checkered. The uncheckered ones are on my wifes 2" m15. Its ok. I like the aggressive checkering to lock the gun in with heavy loads.

I have since replaced the vz grips on my m19 with ahrends which were are awesome

Square butt.

I think I am going to end up going with the Altamont coke bottle grips. In looking at the S&W forum and seeing some comparison pics they look to fit the bill.

I believe they are the ones who are making the grips for the classic series.

The m29 we had as a rental at the range I worked at had them. They were very thin at the top of the grip and did nit handle recoil well.

I know there's a big difference in recoil but a 4" k frame can be uncomfortable after 100 rounds of magnums with poorly designed grips.

It shouldn't be an issue with .38s
