Hat-tip D_Man in the long 320 thread for finding this: Here's an archive version of a now removed video on Sig's Youtube channel detailing the upgrade changes. https://web.archive.org/web/20190528161002/https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9vIY2EoJwE This was after people were trying to figure out when the second leg on the 320 sear came in / why/ etc. is related to that. |

Sorry, I missed this thread when it started. Austin PD banned the 230 from the dept range late last year. It's not an issue handgun, but a lot of officers use it for off duty carry. (it was a popular retirement gift for quite a few folks) Standard issue is the 9mm M&P. It's also the dept handgun for a number of agencies that borrow the range from time to time for classes or quals, so I'm not sure what they are going to do now. |

If y'all have more original links than what I've got posed in the reference OPs, please post up the more original link and what section it should go in, and I'll get that replaced. For instance, I know I don't have a very original link to the Washington State Police Academy range prohibiting P320s. |

hope I'm not posting in err here, but it seems like the proper place. has any info on the 320 M18 come out as far as the odd discharges? I nabbed the M18 a few years ago specifically for the manual safety and through all of the reports and hoopla with the 320 about the only thing I have changed as far as daily carrying my M18 is to not appendix carry. I have pretty solid confidence in it's safety, and havent seen much on them discharging but also hold the military reports with a grain of salt (Joe manages to ND every firearm known to man). |

Between actual work and goofing off, I've not updated the OP's on the 1st page as much as I intend to. Might also take a look at this post, #2 on Page 1: https://www.ar15.com/forums/handguns/Master-P320-index-thread-NO-opinions-allowed-post-links-and-data-only/14-216492/#i2554650 There are 3 different ways in those videos to test if your striker block is working. Please test one way or the other, & report your results - safety on & safety off, there seems to be differing results w/ the guns that have safeties. |

| Even if the .mil M18 is fine (I don’t know), that doesn’t mean a civilian P320-M18 also is (I also don’t know). There are two reasons: the military guns have differences, allegedly, and even if they don’t, your local gun store isn’t part of the same supply stream the DoD is. Sig is not open about changes quietly made over time. So, there could potentially be multiple unknown differences between your gun and a .mil one with unknown effects, and in any case it is not the exact same gun. |

I wonder how many rounds the striker return springs are good for. The packaging does say made in the US, so maybe they’re quality springs. The broken spring did have around 1500 rounds through it and easily over 3k dry fire trigger presses through it. I’ll try and document the amount of live and dry fire rounds this new spring lasts. |

Did you try the punch test with the laser prior to the replacement? While some folks issued handguns only fire a few hundred rounds a year, it's not uncommon for 10-20% of an agency to shoot 3-4k rounds a year depending on their interest or assignment. 3-4% may actually shoot 10k plus in a year at the right agency. |

No, I ordered the laser cartridge the same day I ordered the replacement spring. |

Someone far more knowledgable than me should look to see if this is worthy of the thread. I have no problem deleting this post if not relevant. Video shared below is a good overall comparison of Glock vs Sig P320 safety features. Channel is pro Glock but very fair reviews of the X-Macro FWIW. More specifically, the beginning of the video shows quantitative differences of potential discharge when barely out of battery, end of the video goes over sear and trigger bars. However, at around the 7:00 minute mark he shows the striker block (safety) on the slide being a plunger on the Glock. Thereafter, he points to the P320 with 'rocker-like' striker block which according to accounts in the video can gum and has lead to that specific feature being defeated. Interestingly, the P365 has the plunger design.. Suspect this has all been covered, sharing just in case. ![]() Glock vs. Sig P320: The Ultimate Internal Safety Showdown! |

I had already posted it, but no need to delete your post - it's an important video demonstrating how the false sear can occur on reassembly given incorrect or worn parts. |

Regarding this video, I and another poster tested a few 320s and came up with the following: Originally Posted By glklvr: Update: I grabbed two P320s- one a bone stock compact base model and an M17. Disassembled and reassembled Glock style. Compact: the sear, which is supposed to drop all the way down, never got below halfway down, making reassembly a bitch, having to wiggle side to side and up and down to get the slide back on. Once on, I could not get the striker to drop but it would still fire with that other, lighter trigger pull. M17: the sear would drop down all the way, giving me a dead trigger. Could not make the striker drop. So, while I couldn't get them to fire without pulling the trigger, it was a demonstration of the inconsistency between pistols. Originally Posted By Everybody: P320 Trigger & Sear Behavior Across Four Configurations I have four P320s. Three are all-Sig builds, and one is a hybrid with aftermarket components. These are my observations with the differences in sear behavior and trigger function depending on how they're reassembled, particularly regardless of whether the slide catch is used. 1. P320 Compact & X-Five (All Sig Parts) Issue: Upon disassembly, the sear dropped low and was no longer visible. Takedown Lever: Rotating it did not raise the sear. Result: When reassembled without using the slide catch, I ended up with a dead trigger. Fix: Racking the slide and using the slide catch resolved the issue; trigger functioned as expected. 2. P320 Full Size (All Sig Parts) Observation: Rotating the takedown lever slightly raised the sear, but not enough to engage the striker. Result: Like the others, if reassembled without the slide catch, I experienced a dead trigger. Fix: Racking the slide using the slide catch restored normal trigger function. 3. Hybrid Build (Sig FCU, Zev Slide/Barrel, Wilson Combat Grip) Behavior: Rotating the takedown lever only partially lowered the sear. When the lever was returned to its locked position, the sear fully raised to the proper "up" position. Result: Even when reassembled without using the slide catch, the trigger functioned normally. Summary: My all-Sig builds seem to require reassembly using the slide catch to ensure the sear resets properly and the trigger functions. The hybrid build shows different behavior, with the sear resetting correctly regardless of the slide catch use. |
