I have an old Taurus PT99 with the heel mag release. From from what I can find as far as info on it, it seems to have been manufactured pre '83.

I'm trying to find some new 15rd mags for it, preferably nothing made by promag. I've read that early 92fs mags work with the PT99 with the heel release. I am wondering if anyone can confirm this?

The old Taurus PT 99 had a button release on the heal/ side of grip.   I’d think there would have to be a cut out for the mag catch to work.   I think I’d buy a Mec-Gar Beretta 92 mag to test or modify to work.

Here is a link to the Mec-Gar mag mentioning it will not work with a model 92 S pistol with heal release.   I think the 92S mag can be made to work with the old Taurus PT 99.

The PT 99 is the adjustable sight Taurus and the PT 92 is the fixed sight model and both use the same mag.  Looks like different SKU number for Mec-Gar Beretta 92 mag and Taurus.   Here is a link to the Mec-Gar Taurus PT 92/99 mag.   There is also a link to the ProMag that has the heal mag cut out.   I think I would modify a Mec-Gar Taurus PT 92/99 mag.

I just found this magazine.  I think it would be worth following up on this mag.

I was afraid id have to go the modification of mags approach. Looks like the only viable option. Mec- Gars are my go to for CZs so I'll go that route. Thank you for taking the time for giving me a detailed response with links. I very much appreciate it!

Those Taiwanese mags look pretty good for $16 with $3 shipping or three mags with free shipping.   I don’t own the Taurus PT 92 but a couple of Friends have had them.  Probably one of the better Taurus semi autos.    Taurus is not very good about stocking mags for their guns.

I looked on Taurus web site and their PT 92/99 mags were out of stock and it appeared they did not have the heal release notch.   Surprisingly Taurus listed Mec-Gar mags for the PT 92/99 and they were in stock.  Makes me wonder if Mec-Gar is making the current Taurus Mags.  It’s entirely possible the Taiwanese mags were OEM back in the 70-80’s when Taurus transitioned to the different mag catch location.

@Vexed these are 17 round flush mags but they appear to have the cutout for the heal release. https://www.cdnnsports.com/magazines/92-99-9mm-17rd-blue.html

I have been nothing but impressed with mine and I am not a Taurus fan by any stretch of the imagination. I've emailed them several times about mags and I've never received a response back. It would be pretty awesome if they're now using Mec- Gars for OEM.

Thanks for this! I'm gonna see if I can get them on the phone and verify they have the heel release cutout.
