Let me say this is not a looking to trade or wtt thread as I am just looking for some input on a local trade deal I have been offered. I have a nib Glock 19 gen 5 with x5 full cap. mags with standard sights and I am looking to trade for a used Glock 43X with night sights and x2 standard factory mags and x2 Shield Arms mags. I am looking for outside objectivity on the deal and trying to make it fair for both parties. Thanks for any input. DE

I'd say, at the moment and given those two items, the person bringing the 43x to the table needs to be bringing about $100 additional to the trade, if not more.

The 19 is pretty much universally acknowledged as the perfect fighting pistol.  The 43x is more of a niche carry gun.

Just my $.02

Considering the cost of the night sights and Shield mags it sounds like the values are pretty similar. If you would be better off practicality wise with the 43X then I’d probably go for it. Value wise the Shield mags seem to be about twice the price of 19 mags and the night sights are at least $50-100.

if considering blue label prices (not counting the mags), it's

19x with 3 mags - $398
2 extra mags - $50

43x with 2 mags - $358
2 Shield mags $80
night sights $50-$70

I agree. The 43x side seems a little light for an even trade.

The other guy needs to add $100 to the deal.  Personally, I wouldn't make that trade.

The 43X package is worth more than the 19.5 package.

Thanks for the advice guys. I have another 19 but prefer the smaller/thinner frame for ccw and would carry the 43X more than I would the 19.

A couple of months ago I traded my G19 for a G48 with 2 SA mags. No regret since I still have 2 G19 left. Since then I picked up a Brownell's G43 slide with the RMS cut and it's now my edc.

I just bought a 43X and paid $460 for it at my LGS.  The SA mags are $40 each, if you order from SA or $150 each if you buy them in the EE ().

460
80
80 (NS average)
620 total

560
50 2 mags, pistol has three in box
610

About even, unless I am missing something

I think your in the ball park to trade.

IDK if I would use the SA mags for carry though
leaving the only issue capacity, but, you would gain
a more comfortable carry piece given you have another 19.

I haven’t taken my G17 out of the house since the day I got my G43X and I don’t see the G19 being any different as I have owned a total of three of them. In terms of value, I would say that you’re pretty much even. The G43X is definitely the more useful of the two in my opinion. It is lighter and thinner, has a shorter slide/barrel in case you happen to carry AIWB, it matches the G19 for capacity when using the Shield mags, and it offers the same grip length.

I am personally comfortable with the factory 10 round capacity on the G43X, but if you are interested in the Shield mags, they do take a while to get these days so this would be a good way to get them in hand without waiting on a back order status. Also, the G43X already comes with night sights installed, and if you are lucky... a bunch of them were sold with Ameriglo Bolds which is what I have on mine.

In my eyes, the G43X and the G48 have rendered the G19 obsolete unless you are a uniformed cop wanting a slightly smaller than full size duty weapon for carrying on a duty belt. If you are a concealed carrier/citizen looking for a solid HD pistol that doubles as a carry piece, the G43X is a winner.

If you want a 43x that’s a good dea. those S15s are worth twice retail in street value.

I went ahead and did the deal. I think the prices were equal and am much happier with the thinner gun I will use. Thanks to everyone for your input.

Make sure you check and see if your mag catch in Shield Arm. I did a similar trade and PO installed a aluminum catch. Well after shooting a couple of mags today the magazine keep dropping.  Found this when I got home.

It is an older SA Aluminum catch but I plan on using the factory mags instead and gave the SA mags to a fellow shooter at a low price. There was nothing wrong with the SA mags but figured as much as it was going to cost to get more and add a steel catch, I  would stick with the 10 round mags.
