My dad's first backup gun model 60 bought in the early 70s. Has bang bang engraved on one side of the barrel and adios on the other side. He was in a number of gunfights with this gun.

My Dad's 2.5" Model 66

My 442

And my Model 19, both of mine were my step Dad's.  This one was a CHP service revolver.  The other is one he bought in 2013.  When he passed away I bought the 442 from my Mom and she gifted me the Model 19

I've got a metric ton of other peoples Smith and Wesson revolver pics.  But if you start looking, they're out there.  You may like the thread in the smith and wesson forum on here:

Three old favorites. The 65-5 LS came cosmetically challenged out of Alaska. My gunsmith bobbed the hammer, performed a trigger and action job, and re-beadblasted. Now wearing Spegel grips  The 28-2 was red ramped and hard chromed by a previous owner. I added extended Spegel boot grips.  The third has been an ongoing project. It's a 3.5" Pre-27 that I picked up with a shitty matte blue over old pitting and it shot to one side.  Luckily, it was dirt cheap. I had it reblued by a gentleman who is skilled with a draw file and managed to get most of the cosmetics in order without washing out the roll marks. Sandy Garrett re-ramped the bbl after refinishing and worked some magic to get he frame/bbl alignment back to where it needed to be.

Nice set of revolvers.  Just a minor correction if you will.  That Model 19 from DoS was a DS gun, not a DSS gun.  DSS is purely the investigation arm of DS.  Firearms carriers are Special Agents.

DS itself is the entire bureau.  Now I think it's up to about 25,000 people.  Lots of folks that are involved in security, but not criminal investigation.  Now, back when we were issued Model 19 S&W for agents, it was a 2 1/2 inch blue guns.  The long barrels were issued to uniformed DS security and overseas security functiions.

So, it' still got  great history, but it's a DS not DSS gun.  I wish I could have bought my issued Mod 19 when we converted to Glock Mod 19.  But no such luck.  Then we ditched the Glocks and went Sig in a few months, and couldn't buy the Glock either.

Anyway, you're closer than I am to an actual DS gun than I am.  Again, nice collection.

Appreciate the info. I do remember reading that the 4inch guns were assigned to people like the uniformed Marine guards at embassies. I am hoping that is where this one came from.

Here’s most of mine (disregard the Colt Magnum Carry in the Stainless/nickel picture):

I know my models 17,18, and 34 aren’t in those pics.  Probably a couple others as well.

ETA - yea, also missing a 19 CTSP model, a 325 nightguard, my Lew Horton 3” Model 24 and probably a couple more.

ETA2

The nightguard

The Lew Horton 24 is upper right (along with other of my N-frames)

Almost forgot about the 1917.  She’s got British proof marks.

Model 69 Combat Magnum

The 69 in a simply rugged silver dollar pancake holster is a dream to carry. Ridiculously accurate and soft shooting with 44spl or light 44 mag loads.

I have a couple that belonged to family.

One is a 38 that belonged to my great uncle that ran a corner grocery with my aunt.

He carried the 38 in his front pocket on the way to the bank and kept it at his bed side at night.

The 32 belonged to my paternal grandmother. She kept it under her pillow every night, so I was told.

My dad liked the tell the story of her threatening a man with it once after he tried to scam her out of money. She ran a corner grocery also.

Long story on the scam but she had it cocked, had her finger on the trigger and was pointing at the mans face. He got lucky.

Both are really nice.  I'm trying to figure out what I'm looking at, as far as the hammer goes, on the one one the left. I'm assuming that is a 637.  For some reason that hammer doesn't look like a normal hammer to me.  Is it modified?

Are those real Ropers in the bottom two guns, or Altamonts?

I’m thinking about a set of the Altamont Ropers for the 22-4 above.

So which grips should I put on it?  I’m considering Culinas, Altamont Ropers, or Stag mangas.

A t grip with the current grips and call it a day.  If my hands could handle the recoil, that's what I'd do.  But I've never shot a .45 revolver......    But man that thing is gorgeous.    That's nickel, right?  I didn't think they made it in stainless.

Yes, it’s nickel and probably the nicest nickel gun I’ve seen since the ‘80s when they were more common.

Those tiny grips are going to have to go. They feel like a kid’s toy in my hands. I think I’ll start searching for something like the carved ivories that were common the Wolf and Klar 44s and Elmer Keith had on a few of his guns. (The bottom gun is one of EK’s Guns)

Those are purdy.  I don't recommend normal magnas new from smith and wesson.  I bought some for a K frame and they're kind of flat.  They don't look too bad but there's not barely any curve to them, like an older set.

First off, there are some fine looking firearms in this thread...well done! I love looking at individual setups and what people choose to outfit their revolvers with.

I'm not all that old, so the only way I'm getting my hands on "pre lock" S&W revolvers is for my to drop top $$ on them...which I won't do.

So...with that said...

My 627 "Pro" post gunsmith work and sporting a Burris FFIII, this guy is range only, .38 spcl only:

My newer model 629 4" with a Primary Arms "micro" (underneath it is a Charter Arms Pitbull in 9mm):

My wife's 67-1 that I refinished for her (it was an ex law enforcement revolver that was pretty beat up), sporting some VZ grips:
