Any officers on here carrying the 42 as a back up or off duty gun? How's it working out for you?

Not LE, but a Marshall friend of mine uses one as his backup gun.

Sure it is definitely possible and more than likely occurring often. I know several officers who carry back up guns not G42s but they do carry micro or mouse pistols. I know one that carries a P365SAS and another that has a G26 backup to his G17. It really just depends on the officer because I know some that do not carry a backup at all also.

Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

I carry a 43 in my outer carrier vest pocket. Has been fine.

I carry a 43 as a backup for about 3 years. Do you have a specific questions?

Every 42 I’ve seen is a jamomatic.
My wife’s 42 sucks especially. Planning on selling it and buying another 365 for her. Shoot yours before you trust it. |

I'm no holster sniffer but if someone burned down the town garage and threw canned corn at the snow plow guys I'd drop off a case of beer at the DPW. ~Aimless

I have a buddy that carries it. He has it secured to his Velcro by his armpit that holds his vest. His he leaves a button or two undone (I think he has magnetic button now) and can slip his hand in and towards the gun. It’s pretty easy and well concealed.

I carried a 42 as a BUG in my off side BDU pocket for years.

LE and Glock guy here.
I own a G42 but really only use it when I go fishing For a BUG I prefer a J-frame .38 or G43. Off duty I routinely use a G48 and spare mag. Work gun is G17.5 with 509T but operationally I use 11.5 AR or 14” Benelli M4. |

I like mine. I carried it and I've shot matches with it. No issues, past the fact that it's a .380.

My understanding was they had some reliability issues and switched to the G43 to serve the same role. |

I ran a 43 before we got 365xl’s but a couple guys had G42s always seemed to like them.

Retired LEO.
I carried a Glock 42 as an off duty pistol, especially in the summer months when it first came out, but once the Glock 43 came out in 2015, I basically retired the G42 since the G43 is only slightly more bulkier than the 42 and has a bigger punch with 124 grain Speer 9mm gold dot JHPs. Prior to buying the G42, I switched between my mid 1980s stainless Walther PPK/S and my S&W Model 37 J frame revolver as my off duty firearm. I think Glock was on the right track with the 42 and 43, but missed the mark on magazine capacity… Glock should have made it a 7 shot flush fitting mag and with the dead space “finger rest,” an 8 round mag. I honestly thought Glock was going to do this since that was the only gripe about them, but when they came out with the G43x, that thought crashed and burned! So, I ended up with Pearce +1 for all my 42 and 43 magazines. My G42 ate everything I fed it without any issues… The only ammo I never tried within her was cheap Russian steel case ammo, but I don’t think need to worry about Russian ammo anymore |

Not a 42, but I do carry my 43 religiously. It just disappears.

My G42 has been through over 2K rounds and has never choked on anything. I carry it every day at work. When out and about in t-shirt, I carry my G43. I would recommend either one.

My 42 eats everything I feed her. I have shot a perfect score with the 42 in my local GSSF indoor match. I do carry her in low risk environments. But I preferer a 9mm and carry a Glock 43x most of the time.

My 42 is boringly reliable. With anything I feed it.
