I've heard good things, as well, and I'm considering an SAS II UL.

I looked at the SAS online. Double stack. Basically2011 for around $1500.  I had hoped that the local shop had one I could check out but they didn't.

The Humble Marksman (YouTube) just did a review on the the Commander length Dbl. Stack version.  I think it runs around $1700, but I didn't like the 3 month wait.  I wish I could check one out locally.  Although I already owning a C2 & P, I'm not sure I need another 2011 type pistol.  But if you don't own either, that might be the great in-between size gun to have.

Humble Marksman runs the Bul Ultimate Racer as his USPSA Open gun.  He also has a few videos on that.

Here's his short version review of the Commander.  For some reason, I can't find his longer review he just posted.  Maybe it was taken down?

I've got the stainless commander 10 round version. It's a lot of gun for the money. Super smooth and great trigger.

They seem to be pretty well received.  I've been doing a lot of looking at the SAS II Ultralight.  If the $$$ makes itself available, it will likely become my new carry gun.  I wish there was a version with a shorter grip but it is what it is.

Welcome

Last I saw they were around $1300 but who knows at the moment.  $1300 isn't cheap but it's a steal for a 2011.  There's another model with a built in compensator and Shield red dot for around $1800 but I don't like the added length.

Bought one off gunbroker last night. Sorry for dumb question but I’m a newbie to the 1911 platform, but is this pistol compatible with Wilson combat parts? I’d like to replace the mim parts, safety, hammer & plunger.

That's a good looking pistol. I see a newer version on gunbroker but they are asking $2500 as a starting bid which seems almost double what they should be but at least it's optic ready.

Yeah that's too much. You can get a Staccato for that. MSRP on that gun is $1890.

Are they like other guns where you can find them for significantly less than MSRP? A Staccato P is $2100 and the Duo is $2400 msrp so it's still pretty close.

Ouch reminds me of the 3" Springfield 1911 in 40 I bought. Lesson I learned was tap out early and make them fix it. Hopefully Bul has good customer service.

That looks to be 100% mag related.
Since having the follower come out, is a sign of really W-I-D-E feed lips.

The gun is a Sports South exclusive called the SAS II TAC Light 4.25. It is essentially a lightweight Commander double stack.

With that said, it is actually a 4.25" government model as the slide has the full travel and not the abbreviated travel of an actual Commander. The barrel is a ramped Wilson/Nowlin bull with no bushing. The recoil spring guide is full-length and held in with a reverse plug.

Controls are single sided and parts appear to be MIM. The trigger has a tiny bit of creep about a quarter of the way through. It breaks at about 3.75 pounds.

Here it is with the addition of the factory BUL mag well.
