Unknown gun smith did the amino safety and full length guide rod ( 2 piece screw together) both from Swenson. He also did a revolver sight and possibly went over the trigger. Kinda want a single port comp barrel on it and getting the engraving/coating fixed but $ is kinda tight. More pics here |

Hello. That is my favorite 1911A1. I find my self carrying it more and more. That is a replica of a modifed GI 1911A1 I was issued during the early 80s. It is a Remington Rand frame from WW-II. GI contract hard slide with improved sights installed, TZ national match barrel and bushing, (some had Kart), Maryland Gun Works hard steel GI type hammer and sear. All parts including the frame were MP inspected before assembly. The chamber on the barrel was loosened up a bit, frame and slide were hand lapped. This pistol was built by the late Arnold Dew of Fayettevile N.C. I have installed a surfire light adaptor and surfire light. These adapters were issued/used on the much more modified GI 1911A1 pictured above (also built by AD). It has a custom kydex holster. I have one holster in camo and one in black.
I have a had many 1911's but I always tend to return to these two 1911A1s. They are much more accurate than any I own or have owned. I've owned and used various custom built 1911's, Les Baer and Nighthawk etc. While they are very nice and do what they are intended to do, they just don't seem to do it as well as these two pistols. And get sold off. I know in my minds eye were the rounds will impact with these two weapons. They are truely almost magical. Arnold could really build and tune up a 1911 or Hi Power. Regards |

FMJ that I bought 10ish years ago. I also shot some 147gr. powder coated lead bullets, loaded in Win. once fired brass. Don't remember how many I fired of those but it wasn't a lot. Should have kept better track of what was going on. |

I'm thinking the first thing I'm going to replace is a new recoil spring. Right now I'm going to polish the disconnector. |

You may want to lighten tension on the middle finger of the sear spring and break any sharp edge that might be contacting the disconnector. There should never be enough tension on the disconnector to keep the slide back when eased forward but unfortunately some guns come like that out of the box. |

I'll open it up again and try that with the spring. I did use a ceramic stone on the top of the disconnector. I also found some burrs on the face of the disonnector, which I worked with the stone. |
