I remember seeing a few examples of the Beretta 92F Type S on gunbroker a year or two ago. I hadn't ever seen any before or since. I am guessing it was a relatively short production run as a transition from the F to the FS, the examples I saw had a 1988 date code. Anyone know how many were produced or whether they are collectible/valueable?

I haven’t personally seen any, but yeah most likely a transition pistol or it was modified to fs spec by beretta as an upgrade for the customer.

Did you look up the serial number on Beretta’s website? It could give a little more info

It's a 92F slide marked as a 92FS with an enlarged hammer pin  & groove in the slide. They probably just stamped type type S under the current slides they had marked 92F before they had slides marked 92FS.

They are probably only limited to 1988, maybe 1989, but I don't know if they have any collectible.
