What's everyone using for a holster for the 509 tactical? I am running a streamlight TLR7 and soon to have a RMR on it.

In for some answers on this as well. Looking for a OWB holster for a belt and want to use Safariland UBL Midride. Gun will have a X300U light and RMR on it.

I see Safariland has a few holsters for the 509, will they work with the Tactical? I am worried they aren't clearanced for the taller front sight.

I've been happy with ANR Design and DARA holsters. I've had a couple others that worked fine, but ANR and DARA have been the most comfortable.

ANR has QLS and RTI mounting options.

I've been pleased with the DARA for IWB carry, it doesn't snag and drawing is easy.

For what it's worth, I called Safariland today to see if their 6390RDS holster for the 509 works with the Tactical. The customer support guy was very nice. He did say the barrel plug in the holster is the only thing that won't fit the longer threaded barrel of the tactical. Everything else with the 6390RDS holster for the 509 will work including the suppressor height front sight.

He said that they cannot recommend removing the barrel plug out of the holster. But that if a customer did want to do that then the Tactical model should fit into the 509 holster no problem. He did say they were planning on making a tactical specific model here soon.

Finally he said that if a customer did remove the barrel plug from a 509 holster to run a tactical that it would be easily converted to the "509 tactical model holster" in the future with an updated barrel plug that they could provide.

So I think I am going for the 60 day wait on a 6390RDS holster for the OWB war belt.

It will fit and lock properly in a Safariland 6354DO for a Glock 34 w/light with very minor fitting.

I should ad my 6354 is an older one.

Thoughtt I should add to this,

Safariland 6390RDS holster for the corresponding barrel length fit perfectly with not fitting required if anyone is needing a retention holster.

Should work on non light bearing models too but haven't verified

Note: the "6392" denotes it was a "high ride belt mount" I bought it because it was in stock. Most people usually want the 6390

Bought a Safariland 578 Pro-Fit GLS has room for the suppressor sights and the RMR. No light though. The good news it will also fit most Glocks and M&Ps. It come with paddle but belt loop attachment is included. It also has retention.

I can confirm this as well. Below is a 6390RDS-4502 holster meant for a Sig P320 RX with 4.7" barrel. My 509T with RMR and X300U fits in it well. After a couple dozen times taking it in and out it has worn into the gun and is much smoother

I still plan on buying a 509T specific holster when they make them for the 6390RDS line, but until then, this will work perfectly for practice and classes.

will the 509T fit a 6390rds for a glock 34 or glock 17 or is the sig 320 holster a better fit

@1iviper , I tried using a 6354DO for a G17 and the 509T would not fit. Not sure if the 6390RDS for the G17 would be different, but I would suggest sticking with the P320 unless you can find a deal on the G17 version and dont mind having to sell it back out there if it doesn't work.

thanks man , i found a 6390rds for a g17 on sale so i ordered it.  if it doesn't fit i'll use it for my g19/g45 with threaded barrels

with my luck as soon as i order one for a p320 from safariland they'll come out with one for a 509t

i would order one for a 509 from them and mod the barrel plug but it's not available from them in multicam

Alright, I'm back with an update. Long story short: If you want a 6390RDS for your 509T with light and dot, get the 6390RDS-2702 for the 509 model and remove the barrel plug.

Back in June I ended up ordering a 6390RDS for the FN 509 (note, they don't have a drop down for the 509 T yet).

The model number was 6390RDS-2702 and I ordered it for an X300U and RMR in FDE. Full code on my holster package is "6390RDS FN 509 X300U STX TAC FDE RH"

The first thing to note is as expected, the longer barrel of the 509T does not fit in the holster. I removed the barrel plug with one bolt and then spread the holster to get it out easily. Once the barrel plug is removed then the 509T can easily fit in this holster, and it fits GREAT.

First image below shows the barrel plug removed. Once you holster the gun and adjust the tension screw, it is incredibly secure. I'm not worried about retention with the lack of barrel plug.

Next photo of the Tan holster is the 509 specific one. Followed by the black holster is the one I was previously using that is made for the P320 / M17. You can see the 509 holster is much slimmer and more fit to the gun. Very happy with the swap.

FWIW, Muddy Rivers Tactical will make a holster for a 509, T or non T, RMR or no RMR, light or no light. Very reasonable price, very fast shipping, excellent fit. Mine is OWB, they offer IWB too. They included two different sets of belt loops with mine, one labeled “concealed carry.”

Here’s mine - both new to me today:

TR Holsters might be able to help you out. They're based out of North Carolina. I have one of their paddle holsters, they're high-quality.

Have a Wingman Original IWB on order for my 509T. Until then, it sits RTG on the night stand.
