Happy Friday!
Looking to replace my glock 42 with something else. Pref manual safety, 9mm. P30SK is a contender. Looking for something I can conceal in the summer. What else should I look at?

Glock 43 or Sig P365. No need for an additional safety.

I’d go 365 if you want a manual safety it’s an option. Plus it gives you options to go larger later with different grips if you choose.

Thanks, will rent one at the range if they have it. Anyone shot the p30sk and 365?

Having had a VP9SK, the P30SK is going to be HUGE and heavy compared with the G42.

I was looking into the Springfield 911 but they're discontinued.
I don't know if the SIG P238 is still in production.

I ended up just ordering a Glock 42 last week.

A lot of guys like the LC9 as it's similar in size, though I've not used one. It shows to be less than a half inch taller and about 3 ounces heavier.

LC9 are thin and light. Very easy to carry.

P30sk is awesome, if your hands fit it well.

The LEM version is sweet.

I'll chime in on the LC9 front.

That gun is stupid easy to carry.  The safety on them is freaking retarded thought.  I've got the OG hammer fired one not the newer LC9S - if you get the pro then there's no safety on them.  I frankly never use the safety on mine and have more than once contemplated removing it along with the mag disconnect.

Carry wise, it carries easier than a G43.

I was in the same boat.   I went with a sig p365.  Same foot print but bigger bullet and more ammo.

The Glock 42 is an absolute joy to shoot, but the size difference is so insignificant you may as well as go with the gun with more capacity and more effective (and cheaper) bullet.

Glock 43 is a non starter but it’s big enough to make a difference and the capacity is so low.

How do you carry the 42?  I pocket carry mine.  It’s about as large and heavy a gun as I can reasonably fit in a pocket.  If you IWB or AIWB you have tons of other choices.

Keep the G42 as a pocket or ankle BUG.

I wanted to love that gun so much but jeez did they fuck up that trigger. Luckily i rented one at the range and put a box of ammo through it, after that i was "nope"

That’s definitely the way to go about it. With small pistols, I wouldn’t take anyone else’s word for what feels good or is comfortable to shoot. I went through that when deciding between the G43 and Shield a few years ago. I shot the Shield well, and I know it’s a quality pistol, but it just didn’t feel good in my hand. Like the grip was too wide front to back and too narrow in width. Ended up getting the G43 after renting both in the same trip to the range. Now I want to try out the P365X…

P365 with the MagGuts +2 kits for 13 rounds onboard in the same dimensional footprint as a Glock 42.  I'm a Glock-guy and am generally not a Sig fan, but the P365 is the current gold standard for small carry guns.

G43 or P365. I’d go Glock over Sig though

I would go p365 or Hellcat. Hellcat actually holds more and is the same size as the Sig. Plus these guns are the same size as the 42. But I would definitely go to the range and try them out.

I've owned Glock 26 (Gen 2.5, Gen 3, Gen 4, Gen 5), Glock 43, Kahr PM9, Kahr CM9, Kimber Micro 9, Sig 938, SA Hellcat, SA Hellcat OSP, P30SKV3, P30SK Lite LEM, P30SKS (ambi safety).

The only guns I would consider:

HK P30SKS
Glock 26 Gen 5
Hellcat (regular or optic cut) .. they now make these with a manual safety if you are set on having one.
