Going to go on a S&W shield. Thinking Tru-Glo tfo or AmeriGlo two dot sights. I want both day and night visibility

Ameriglo I-Dots!  The TFO pro's are pretty nice too, but I think more expensive

Trijicon HDs or Night Fision. For me their front dots are more visible than Ameriglos. The NF have brighter tritium.

Defensive pistol, I love the HD's.

Depends on what you plan to do with the pistol...

I like Dawson Precision. Fiber front, black serrated rear with square notch. My main carry gun has a weapon light on it.

Second would be Ameriglo FBI sights.

Third are Trijicon HD's

More of my pistols have the TruGlo TFX/TFX Pro’s on them, than anything else these days. Replaced Trijicon HD’s, Meps, Glock Factory NS, etc...

I carry either the Meprolight/Trijicon, but my duty gun and a couple others have the Truglo TFO sights.  The main drawback is the lack of a flat surface for a one handed racking of the slide, if that's something you are concerned about being able to do.  I've had a lot of guys ask if the tubes have ever come out and they haven't in over 10 years.  I've also got them on a couple of G17's that get used at 3 gun matches and they haven't fallen out either.

Dawson Precision
Green fiber front
Black serrated rear

After shooting a lot of night and low light matches, I will never waste money on night sights again.

Since you said favorite and not "best for all situations", looking through a set of blacked out serrated BoMar sights is a nearly religious experience for me.

Defensive handguns get black rears and fiber optic or tritium fronts though. Usually Dawsons.

yep.  Black rear and F/O front is the way and the truth.  You can substitute brass or gold bead front if you prefer.

Night sights are next to pointless.  If low-light or no-light is a concern, you need a WML.

Another vote for Trij HD XR. Best pistol sights I've come across for carry and general use.

If only Trijicon would make them in suppressor height...

Trijicon RMR is my favorite.

Dawson adjustable front FO and black rears if I have to use irons.  Used to use exclusively Heinie straight eight night sights until I repeatedly saw the lumens in low light training.  Good sights, but tritium is pretty worthless.

Truglo Tritium Pro kick-ass for only 60 bucks. Nitrided steel, hi vis white dot front sight, rear has a ledge for racking, serrated black rear with 2 Tritium dots.

Truglo TFX are the same, but they have fiber optics/cost about double.

Truglo will need minor fitting even with a sight pusher.

Tritium Pro rear with TFX Pro front would be perfect imo.

On a full size duty gun, I want 3-dots, Trijicon or Novaks

For a smaller CCW gun like a Shield I would go with a single tritium dot on the front and blacked out rear.

That is what I liked about that Tritium Pro Set.

The nitrided steel is also a nice touch as far as corrosion resistance/hardness. Fitting them is a chore compared to Ameriglos however.

I prefer a blacked out rear on just about everything though.
