I have a Gideon Omega (SRO copy) with a 3MOA dot and 45MOA circle.

I also just received a used red 508T that can be switched between the dot, circle and circle dot.

But I am once again thinking of picking up a green 507C ACSS as a good first time optic.

Does anyone have experience with one? I think that my eyesight, the Chevron but probably easier for me to pick up without being too busy.  If I were using the 508T, I could see myself possibly switching to the circle only which is 32moa.

I feel like everyone I know who gets these optics with multiple or fancy reticle realizes that a simple dot is superior for pistol shooting distances.

If you can see it, sure.

Not everyone has the eyes of a perfect 18 year old .  I could likely see the 6moa dot of the 407K, but most dot-only optics are 1-3.25, which doesn't work for me.

Have one on my STI Omni.  Absolutely love it

Quick to get on target and easy for follow-up shots.

Would recommend.

Love em so much I now have 3 of them! One offset on  LVPO, 2 on Glocks - always Green too!
That Chevron is the easiest thing to pick up and makes subsequent shots a breeze! Plus, PA ships fast as hell too!

I was teetering on ordering one since they had the bonus bucks.  Although I would rather just have a better price up front then I have to turn around and spend more money with someone.

I'll keep my eyes open on GAFS and see if somebody over there tosses one up or wants to trade for a 508T.

That's defineteloy the thing, since PA teamed up w Holosun to create that reticle, they are the primary (pun) seller of that optic.
I also used my $200 worth of Bonus Bucks to grab my last one. BTW - you can deactivate that circle thing if you wish too

Love mine. I've had it on my carry gun for about 3 years. Keep extra batteries around. The larger circle hurts battery life but it has really helped me adapt to red dots on hand guns.

Most of the dot only optics have a 6 moa option.

My dad has the ACSS reticle in his 507c he liked it but for me I have 407 and 507 sights which have the eotech style reticle.  Every single red dot I own is set to just a single dot the other ones are nice when you are learning but are annoying to me when I am trying to get on target fast because it obstructs so much in a tight window.
I know you can feel it let it in people will still hate you in the end.

If I end up going with a milled slide (or a gun with native K-Cut/RMSc compatibility), I might.  But for as much as those cost, I'm at the same point of the ACSS.

I had one in the enclosed version and could not get my eyes to work with it. Even with my glasses I still saw 2 chevrons. Took a picture with my phone to confirm it was me. PA took it back for a dot reflex trade even though I had it for several months while waiting on glasses. I stick with dots and the larger the dot the better. Less "star"ing for me without my glasses.

So you had the 509 ACSS in red?

IIRC, they don't make the ACSS in green in the 509.  I wonder if the green ACSS would work better?

I have a 510C in green and don't notice a difference astigmatism wise. I do notice a difference when using white light on a weapon with green dot sights. The dot is harder to see against the white light. I have been switching to red as it stands out better against the white light when used at the same level of a green dot.

I learned that lesson today. https://www.ar15.com/forums/ar-15/1x-Optics-Evaluation/18-787733/

I'm leaving my 507k on the 2MOA dot setting until I get my replacement 407k with a 6MOA dot.

I like the new option for the acss but with a regular dot in the center and still the large circle that’s just outside of the viewing area unless dot isn’t centered.

I liked it, but it seemed a little busy fory taste (not that I have enough experience to really speak with any authority).

It was a big bitch

I sold it and am thinking of a green dot only version.

getting precision from the chevron is pretty tough - a little tougher to zero and a little tougher to group - it works as advertised if you can make peace with the chevron.

I’m a big fan of the 509 Acss, I might like a dot better than the chevron but it’s still easy enough to treat it like a dot for fast and close stuff.

Just screwing around on steel I noticed that I could still get hits fast if I had a bad alignment, but could still see a part of that big circle, and could tell that circle was completely over the target.

It's one of those things that's good on paper but not in real life.

Instead of building muscle memory it encourages steering the gun on target by looking at the reticle Vs small spot on the target (target focus). Worse, you lose the ability to color confirm a shot since the flash of red may be the giant circle instead of the dot.

A few friends tried them out but quickly dumped them. I was not impressed.

The Chevron is 10moa. Bigger than almost every other dot on the market (not concealing a C-More rail ).

I think the entire point of the 230moa circle is to get you back on target.  I'm not sure how one could get confused with seeing a portion of an extremely large circle filling up the window versus a Chevron could be possible.

I found the wide circle to be very helpful when starting out with handgun RDS, and I think it actually helped me build the muscle memory for proper presentation.  What I did not like was the 10 moa wide chevron as I found it extremely difficult to track the center of it under recoil, so I ended up stringing shots left and right of center when shooting at speed.  I think they should do the ACSS wide circle with either a solid filled in center triangle, or the wide circle with a center 6 moa dot.  My carry gun now is 43x with an EPS Carry 6 moa dot.

I agree with a lot of the comments, when first starting out with a pistol optic it really helps you to stop fishing for the dot. Draws you right to the middle. If they had that retical in an enclosed optic like the 509t and replaced the chevron with a dot I would still be running one. One of these days I throw mine on EE but for now it lives on a FN FNX tactical 45acp.

I finally pulled the trigger. They had a shit ton of open box versions for $228.28 on their eBay store.  Shipped by FedEx, will arrive on Monday.

I'm going to be putting it on a P80 brand G19 slide with OEM Glock internals on my Ruger RXM frame (soon to be upgraded to the G17 magazine version as soon as they are available).

Original delivery date would be between Monday and Wednesday.  When it shipped a few hours later, it said Monday.  I guess FedEx figures the less time they have it, the less chances they lose it

when you are shooting fast the bottom arc-of-circle flashing up and back down is distracting when trying to track your dot in recoil.  doubly so when said arc-circle is brighter than the dot/chevron since its so much bigger.  "Color contrast" means pulling the trigger the instant the red thing is reasonably on your target (which you cant do with that circle) and remember you should be target focused and the dot is "just there".

I'm shooting a full size 9mm.  My gun isn't flailing around wildly in recoil so I have not had that issue.
