Got a 9mm conversion barrel for my G23. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. Did anyone do this? Is it as reliable as a G19?

Some research on the internet shows it'd work fine.

I'll post my own experience once I get to the range.

I had a Glock 23 with a Aim Surplus conversion barrel at one point.  I ran glock 19 mags and never had a problem with any ammo I used.  David

I have a G22 LEO coming with a 9mm wolf conversion barrel. From what I’ve read, it should be fine.

It will work. I just end up getting it's own setup.

G19 and G23.

I did a Glock 22 to 9mm "conversion" with only a barrel & using 9mm magazines with zero issues so far.

I do tend to run hotter 9mm ammo, but I'll find some "9mm lite" to see if I experience any issues using the stock .40 Recoil spring with 9mm.

I have the Lone Wolf  - Alpha Wolf G23/9 threaded barrel. It is made specifically for running a G23 in 9mm.

Note, no change in recoil springs or any other parts than the barrel.

I have never had any malfunctions either suppressed or unsupressed, and that is with running mostly Magpul mags too.

I have a wolf 40-9mm conversion and cant recall ever having an issue including using 9mm in the .40 mags at the range without making any other changes.

My experience.  Different barrel (Lone Wolf).

Glock 23C converted to 9mm runs great.  I use my Glock 19 mags.

Mine has been running that way for years. No problem.

it will be fine

the 23 still has an ejector/extractor geared towards the 40S&W round, if problems arise it will mostly come from these suspects.

Not a 23, but I put a Lone Wolf Alpha Wolf 9mm conversion barrel in a Glock 35.  Worked fine, had the occasional failure to eject though.  I then swapped out the ejector, extractor, and the recoil spring over to 9mm parts.  It's been perfect since then.

similar results as above, a Lone Wolf conversion in a G23 but I did switch out the ejector and extractor to 9mm parts... I decided to make it into a truck console gun, so later  a Swensen barrel and slide (remember the channel liner) and Glock upper parts kit as I wanted a 9mm bolt face

If I’m not mistaken it might be.  The conversion barrel slightly shift the chamber closer to the extractor.  You can put a regular 19 barrel on it but I guess it’s loose at the front of the slide.  Accuracy really sucks with that I guess

I have a 32, same concept, and have the 9mm conversion barrel for it.  The barrel manufacturer warns that not all conversions are 100%, but mine has been 100% reliable.

I've had it for about 8 or 9 years now, and a couple thousand rounds.

Yep.  I carry a lone wolf 9mm barrel in my 23.  Changed recoil springs and use 9mm mags. No issues.

At least for Gen 3 the G19 and G23 use the exact same recoil spring.

Probably works fine.

Personally, when I want a Glock in a different caliber or frame size, I just look for a used model. By the time I buy a barrel, mags and any sort of Extractor, springs or other small parts, I’m more than half way to having another complete gun. Pretty much nothing that can’t be easily fixed on a used Glock (if needed). If not, Glock Customer Service will come to the rescue.

Also, and maybe it’s just me, I don’t like conflicting caliber information between the mags, barrel and slide. It’s my OCD, YMMV.

I had a 22 Gen 3 that had a LW conversion barrel. It ran ok with Speer Lawman and Federal AE 9mm FMJ, but it did not like the Gold Dots nor the HST that I tried to feed it. Those rounds worked perfectly in my 26 and my 19, both of them being brand new Gen 4, bought them right when they were released years ago. In the 22 I tried changing the extractor and then the ejector to 9mm specific parts with no improvements in reliability. I had the same issues, intermittent stove pipes and failure to feed, and this was using brand new 17 mags I bought of the shelf at a LGS.

Got tired of fiddling around with it and bought a 17 Gen 4 Blue Label and sold of the conversion barrel, leaving the 22 in .40 spec like it was the day I bought it back in 2010. Ejector housing and extractor went into the spares box. Dunno why I had issues, maybe the barrel, maybe the ammo, but I just figured it wasn't worth the effort to mess with it anymore.

I am interested in a 9x25 Dillon barrel though. I doubt I would have an issue using it in my 20 as it is basically a bottleneck 10mm case. Only thing to mess up is cutting the chamber.

was gonna bring that up...its even the same spring on the 35/34. I went to a lighter spring  just for faster slide time. not one fte and I compete all the time with it.

I have a lone wolf 9mm barrel for my G23, and it has not been reliable for me.  To be fair though, they warn you that light loads may not be as reliable with the conversion, and my 9mm loads are pretty puny, but they run fine in all my factory 9mm glocks.

And yes, recoil springs are exactly the same for 9mm, 40, and 357 sig Glocks of the same size (at least for the gen 1-3, I don't know for sure about 4 and 5).

Another G23.3 with a lone Wolf conversion.
Didn't swap any parts/springs and use my G17 mags.
Haven't used it much but not had any trouble yet.

Mine worked well. For whatever reason it didn't play well with a aftermarket steel RSA, in that it didn't like to disassemble. Took an extra hard tug to get it off. Worked otherwise though, no failures.

Just dropped in a 44$ Bear Creek Arsenal conversion into a stock police trade-in Glock 22 and expected problems. 3 magazines 147 gn ran perfectly.

Very impressed.
