I just got this at an estate sale .  Can you help me value it?  Nickel, 44spl, unfired, no turn line, no box. Serial number SA280xx

Maybe an early 3rd gen?  80s?

Post picture.  Is it a New Frontier?

Almost any Colt SAA starts North of $1K.

Year, value, coolness?  I had to get back to my PC for pics, they were too big.  Luckily he wrote 44 in sharpie on the butt so you don't forget! Better than the old engraved drivers license number.

Looks like a 3rd Gen from 1979-80 timeframe. A Colt in proper working condition should never leave a turn line IIRC. Looks like aftermarket grips to me. North of 1K and south of 1.5K price range. Not a big fan of all nickel sixguns but.......a Colt SAA is a Colt SAA, and all good.

Gratuitous picture of my .357 3rd Gen

The grips fit really nice. Walnut maybe?

They appear aftermarket because they are so fat.  Otherwise a very nice SAA.  The "44" on the butt might be removed with alcohol.  Test a little area to make sure the finish isn't damaged.

Does not look like factory nickel either.  The whole gun has been over polished, and polished while the pieces were apart.  As is, it's a $1,000 gun.  Potentially a nice shooter, put some lead down range with it.

1980’s were generally a bad time for SAA quality IMO

I keep hearing that but every one I have held has been superb.
