EDIT to add that they added the ARMY version in 9mm for $319 also. 9mm Tisas Army blem Edit one more time.......ugh.....ordered the 9mm. Two is one and one is none right?............. View Quote I hate you guys. I was successfully resisting another .45 ACP. Then, "9mm 1911s are fun" they said... |

My 9mm showed up today. Came with 2 Mec-Gar mags. Can definitely tell there is a finish difference, but I'm good with it.
Now they are marked Tisas Tennessee. I'm guessing Tisas opened up shop here. |

Got them today and test fired both. Shoot great and look really good. Just a slightly darker lower receiver than the slide. Accurate and good triggers.
Very happy with a surprise opportunity like this in the midst chaos. .45 on the left and 9mm on the right. Two mags with each pistol. 9mm are Mecgars. 45 are GI Checkmate. Attached File |

Nice!
Personally, I think these Tisas are underpriced and underrated, but that is my opinion. |

Anyone fired their 9mm version for accuracy yet? If so, how did they do?

Welp, they canceled my order for no apparent reason, no explanation or anything.
I had my order in a while ago too, a few people I told after I placed mine had theirs ship, then I get that today. Waiting to hear what the hell happened. ETA: Well apparently they have a 25 year standing policy of not shipping to Kane County IL, despite having zero restrictions here, and the lady acknowledging that there are no restrictions in Kane. "Company Policy". Welp, fuck them, never ordering from them again. |

View Quote Definitely didn't happen in Kane County. Very pro gun here, not an issue. They even acknowledged that there were no restrictions here when I spoke to them, but hey, company policy is company policy. Who needs politicians to restrict the second amendment when trash companies will do it voluntarily? |

Now I am curious as to what the cause of the slide/frame color difference is.

Quoted: Now I am curious as to what the cause of the slide/frame color difference is. View Quote Probably something as simple as a normal manufacturing variation in the OEM paint Lot#'s of whatever they are/were using to finish the pistols two major components. From what I've seen in the photo's posted here, its a very slight difference in shade between the frame and slide. You have to give SDS Imports/TISAS credit for even caring enough to mention it, let alone dropping their price on the wholesale/distributor side of the equation. |

Parts were ran through the finishing process in stages and one lot just didn't quite match up to the other.....BOOM, savings.

Make more mistakes….even at $400.00, these 1911’s are spot on, I was issued a few in the early 80’s.

I snagged a Service model for $300 to tinker with and work on over time. My observations from a sample of one.
Thumb safety has a bit of over travel on safety off. The detent automatically returns it however to where it should sit. It however, will need to be likely replaced because the hook engagement of the sear and hammer is moving ever so slightly when doing the thumb safety test, will have to confirm when I open it up and visually take a look. Trigger fitment is plenty good. The trigger pull is just fine to me and the reset is very nice. Pleasantly surprised to see the ejector is pinned, however the ejector itself is not flush with the frame and is sticking up proud on the side towards the hammer. Does not impede function of the slide, etc. but it definitely needs rework/replacment. The black Cerakote finish is well done throughout. Barrel/bushing fitment is plenty good. Grip safety fitment to frame is plenty good. Overall for $300 its about what I expect, perhaps a bit better than expetcted. That said, it is in no condition to be carried IMO, but should be fun to work on to get it there. I plan to use Harrison Design and Nighthawk components. I can see the appeal to make these into project pieces. For those interested in the SERVICE model I contacted Tisas and they informed me that the Service model uses the standard 16 LB recoil spring and 23 LB hammer spring and the only MIM parts are the slide stop, grip safety, and thumb safety. Though my hammer definitely looks MIM to me so take that with a grain of salt. |
