I definitely want one after owning the full sized 509 tactical. Supposedly the slides are interchangeable as well if you wanted to do that.

Not local, they're everywhere now!
Just opened down the street from me, 4th or 5th within 50mi. |
|
Saw the release trailer on Instagram about ten minutes ago. Supposedly it has an improved trigger as well. I'm just hoping they put the slide up for individual sale like they have done with other pistol slides.

Got a call yesterday, I won one and it's on its way to my ffl.
I spent $50 for a webinar seat. |

If I weren’t already setup perfect on a RMR’d 19, I’d be all over this. Love my regular 509. Eventually I may pick one up anyway.

Got one on the way. I was so impressed with my new FNS-9C, I couldn't resist. These are really nice striker fire guns, no doubt about it.
Also ordered a 24 round mag and midsize sleeve. Why? Why not! Happy new year |

And another one.. 509 Mid MRD. Maiden range trip today for eval. I must say I like the frame on my FNS better.. but, the sides swap between frames & seem to function perfect too. That works. My 24 round mag & sleeve should be here early next week. https://media.fotki.com/2v2HuYVZCx9T3R.jpg View Quote |

I want the MRD Midsize, but I just can't bring myself to spend $800 on a pistol "upgrade" that isn't worth the extra $300 they are charging. View Quote Keep looking the deals are out there. ETA: Here's Mark's email schminterllc at gmail dot com .If interested, see if he has any left @ $525 shipped. I originally found one of his listings on Armslist @ $504 shipped, but it sold before I got to it. He stated FFL's are getting a promo from FN when buying in quantity. ETA II: Looks like Grab-A-Gun has them as well for a good price I've bought several guns from them, they're GTG. |

@purple85gt
I actually bought a sleeve specific for the Midsize. It should mate the 24 round mag with no gap (like it should.) I had to order the sleeve direct from FN. ETA: I'll post up once everything is here. |

Also to note, maiden range trip today was flawless. Approx 200 rounds of various ball ammo.. 115/124/147 all ran great. Just as it should! I'll take it to about 500 with ball before I settle in on what Critical Defense to use.
Carry on |

Critical Defense? 147gr Federal HST, brother! View Quote Holy shit! I guess that’s the reason for 80 cents a round. I’m on the hunt for deals... Thank you sir |

Range trip with the new Holosun green circle dot and 24 round mag was flawless. 150 rounds of Blazer 147g flat nose ran perfect. I'll have to compare these with incoming HST 147g (got my shipping number from SGAmmo yesterday.) Would be great if I could use the Blazer range ammo for training, as it's cheap!
I like the green dot. Better than Red? I have no issue with my RD's, but the green works just as well and I've been itching to try one for awhile. It's as crisp as can be in all modes when I'm wearing my Astigmatism corrective glasses, but should work fine for bump in the night use as well. It's staying on for duty. Carry on |
|
Nice updates, brother. And allegedly the green dots are the new hotness, so you're ahead of the curve there. And what is stopping you from using the Blazer as training ammo? If it's cheap and readily available then I say run it.

Even if there's a POI shift compared to the HST (of which I'm certain there will be.) Still need to train with both FN's regular, as I've proven them to be worthy self defense tools. Rock on |

Stipple time!
Lefty shooter, needed some traction area for my support hand thumb. Done. Not perfect, it works for me. Also both now equipped with Olight PL-Mini II's. Not hip on the rechargeable battery, but for HD work no worries. Super bright! I also ordered MCARBO spring set's for both. I had no idea they were available.. the YouTube video led me to give them a try. Combat Veteran owned company. Solid! The 509 and FNS-9C |

That O-Light looks like it just belongs on that pistol.
And $20 for a nearly 3lbs trigger pull reduction. If that works out in the reliability department that is a huge benefit. APEX is awesome, but $20 vs $150 is a significant draw. |

I'm tempted to pick up the springs myself and give them a whirl. There was a comment on the video about matching them with an APEX trigger. That has me curious also. View Quote That's just me, I know many will disagree with me. But GOD forbid I have to use a gun in self defense, I'll stick with stock as much as possible. But then again, these springs could be used against me as well.. I'm willing to take that chance if they're not too light. I'll still treat these as "training only" guns for 100's more rounds until I get comfortable with them. I know, ramble, ramble.. |

On a side note, this is just too cool. Absolutely no need, but dear lord it looks good. Side windows, pass. Hive top, hell yes!

One more update, and then I'll shut up.
Coming from the 1911 world, MIM gun parts don't cut it for me. Especially fire control group components. I'm use to Ed brown, Wilson Combat BP, Harrison Design extreme duty goodies. Both my SA Gov RO and Dan Wesson Specialist CMD are full of their stuff. With that said, the factory MIM striker in these guns might have been rectified, but I don't give a rats ass. Apex makes a billet striker for extreme duty, and I bought one. I also found a factory bent striker return spring in the 509 Mid, and replaced that as well (factory replacement from MidWest Gun Works.) I've yet to live fire with the new striker an return spring, but I'll be damned if it doesn't feel much smoother. If it works as good as it feels now dry firing, I'll order another for the FNS-9C. If these two are going to be duty guns, hell yes on tool steel critical components. Food for thought... ETA: Apex billet case hardened extractor? Probably do that one too down the line. |
