Crazy. Some thought it might have been removed by Naval Jelly. The metal was in pretty good shape so I got it to rust blue. This is the way my client bought it, with the bluing removed.  BEFORE and AFTER pictures

Nice job,how did you prep the metal, what type of bluing did you use?
I have a 1942 DWM that was first sent to England after the war (British proofs) then to Israel (Israeli) proofs. The toggle was in perfect blued condition but the rest of the gun was finished with a black paint finish that had seen better days.
When I stripped it off the metal underneath was near perfect.
I would like to reblue it or have someone do, it but I do not want it to be buffed to death.

Okay, sorry, I have a policy that I never tell how I do my work, I just show the results.

The smoke from a house fire will strip the blue right off, happened to some guns my Dad had hanging on a rack when their house burned years ago.

ETA - beautiful job by the way!

I know about the house fire problem.  I restored 3 Lugers for a person that had this happened to them

When I apprenticed as a gunsmith MANY YEARS AGO, I spent the first 18 months or so learning how to polish and file in prep for rebluing. That is, from what I can see, some mghty fine work Sir.
Would love to see a few more pics if possible.........
