I have shot their 44 mag 240 grains and it's speedy!

If they don't give barrel length information then it's probably from a rifle.  I doubt they're loading a 158 grain bullet to 1600 FPS in a typical 4-6" pistol barrel... most commercial ammo manufacturers usually don't load that hot, but you never know.

That's probably a 10" barrel or so. The 158 grain Buffalo Boar load is around 1,500 fps from a 4" barrel. I ran the BB load past a LabRadar out of my 6" Barrel GP100 but can't seem to find the data. I think it was mid 1,550 fps ish?

The 180 grain load was 1,480 fps ish.

May have to invest in a chrony just to see. Will be shooting a LCRx .357 3".

Well, it does seem to be pretty hot - shot it back to back with underwood, both are stout. Got the hand-ache to prove it.

Yeah, I don't think I'd like shooting that light a magnum.
My little SP101 is bad enough. It took a bit before I got comfortable shooting it.

I shot some of the Geco 158 FMJ that came stateside (orange boxex) about 2 years ago and felt dangerously hot.  Maybe CIP spec is hotter than SAAMI on 357?

Is that the stuff SG Ammo is selling? Been trying various stuff in my 38's, and just picked up a 357 last night. As far as the Prvi, haven't tried the JHP in either caliber but the LRN left little tendrils of lead out the muzzle of the gun I shot it from. Just one box. Then over half the primers refused to move during resizing.  Magtech it is for now!

The geco is really hot stuff.  Primers were very flat and oblong. Fired it on a much colder day and they looked fine so I am guessing it right on the edge.

Thanks for posting that, do you have access to longer barrels to crono?
Love to see the result.
1200 out of a 3" isn't bad at all. Don't know anything about the bullet they use tho.

Thanks for doing the chrono numbers.

That puts it in pretty comparable territory to Remington 158gr in terms of power.

https://www.luckygunner.com/labs/revolver-ballistics-test/

Looking, the Prvi is a good bit cheaper then the Remington; $0.36 vs $0.48.

Unfortunately, haven't found any gel tests of the Prvi.

Just the 3"er is all I've got.

Yeah, I don't know what the bullet is. Think I'm gonna try and catch it in some jugs.

That's pretty good velocity from a 3".

Got any friends with .357?
If I was closer I'd loan you 2 1/2", 4", 6 1/2" just for curiosity sake.
I want to see what it does out of a carbine as well.

Post any other results you get please. I carry a 2.75" and would appreciate the data points.

I set up some jugs today to catch the bullet and see what it looked like. Figured I would catch it in the 4th 1 gallon jug. I was surprised.

The jacket ended up in the 3rd jug and the lead went through all 5 gallon jugs and landed in the packet of 16oz water bottles I had as a backup behind the jugs. Jaket/Lead separation obviously.

I weighed the fired bullet on my scale at 144 grains. 91% retained'ish weight.

Just stumbled across this thread.

Here's some data I have from late 2017 with this ammo, no idea on the production date.

6" GP100, 12 shots.

Stats - Average 1274.14 fps
Stats - Highest 1345.61 fps
Stats - Lowest 1225.57 fps
Stats - Ext. Spread 120.05 fps
Stats - Std. Dev 35.84 fps

3" Wiley Clapp GP100, 12 shots.

Stats - Average 1202.84 fps
Stats - Highest 1279.26 fps
Stats - Lowest 1137.23 fps
Stats - Ext. Spread 142.03 fps
Stats - Std. Dev 48.38 fps

I will freely admit the Labradar was very new and I may not have had everything right in terms of where to put the muzzle in relation to the Labradar, where to aim it, etc.

How do you guys pronounce this stuff? I've been alternating between "pervy partisan" and "privy partisan", each of which comes with its own set of amusing connotations…
