Ruger P89

Simply because I carried one for years before seeing the .45 light and I can field strip it blindfolded and hanging by my ankles.

Plus it may not be go fast low drag but it's DAMN dependable and makes a decent club when ammo is gone. :)

I'd take the USP.

Wouldn't feel bad about the Glock or Sig either.

Sig P226, hands down.

All of the "1st Tier" handgun makers (Sig, Glock, HK, Beretta) make fine handguns that I would not have a problem using in a combat zone, it is just that I am partial to Sig pistols.

Beretta due to parts and service. My second choice (wich would have been the first it parts and accesories were avialable) would be the H&K IMO simply the best firearm for the fight.

Me and Glocks just dont go well together.

That would be nice, Glock 18 + 33 round mag.

I'd take any of the handguns listed above.  Of the CZ75 variants, I'd prefer the P-01.  Other things equal, I'd be more likely to choose the one everyone else was using for logistical reasons.

Didn't Mussolini get strung up by is ankles?

Beretta M9 for me.  The weapon points like nothing else I've ever shot.  Course, that could be due to the 1000's of draws and presentations that I've done with it,

Last time I checked (or is is czeched) the Czech Republic was one of our allies.  They joined NATO in 1999, and sent troops to Iraq.  Later they voted to extend their deployment when some more traditional "allies" ran.

They've also done away with conscription and gone to a total professional force structure, and are heavily modernizing.

I'd call them allies.  They know the deal, and what life's like on the other side of the coin.

For all those going off the list and choosing 45...

Carry ALL your own ammo - cause you ain't getting any thru supply channels...

Now if I could I'd do a P220 - but I'm practical.

I'd take the P226 or CZ75 / P-35 HiPower.

A 1911 without ammo is only good for cracking Walnuts or skulls.

Glock 34 and some 33 rounders.

The drop leg AK/P90 mag pouches that hold 4 rifle/SMG mags hold 6 33 round glock mags just within reach.

lot of good guns named off here (and some not so good ones)  I think out of your list I would take my 226/9mm but I wouldn't feel bad about the glock(s)  if 9mm was the round to use .

others I might take would be my 1911 45acp or my SA XD 9mm tatical

Any full caliber Sig will get the job done. M11 would be perfect.

Might take a Glock if there was only a choice between that and a big stick.

nope, the stick might work better.

I'd take a 229, but if it had to be off of your list, I'd go with the HK.

Aside from the CZ that I have no experience with, I'd feel confident with any of those as my sidearm.

The SIG's are like an old reliable tank.
The Glock is like a Volkswagon Bug that just won't die.
The Beretta has a good track record and good military support.
The USP has been super reliable in my experience. I haven't seen one malfucntion with my own eyes thus far.

I've never shot a CZ 75, so I can't really say anything about it.

from you list i would choose SIG then H&K, in that order. But i think, and i might be the only one, if i could take any 9mm to a war zone i would take BHP. I think it is one of the finest 9mm handguns in the world, easily. Now, i have no idea how a BHP stands up to all the things that would fowl up a gun, but for reliabilty and dependability there is no question in my mind.

just my .02

Can't really understand any reason for taking ANY of the other handguns listed in that poll.

And yes, I own all of them except for the Glock.  The USP is the most accurate, you can carry it cocked and locked, it has a standard grip angle, and its as reliable, if not more so, than every other handgun on that list.

The USP is THE combat handgun.  Thats what it was designed for, and it does it the best IMHO.

I think we would get different responses if this poll was in the Hall of Heroes forum.  We should ask what the military vets  and current active duty personal what they would carry in a war zone.
