If anyone sees 12rd 9mm compact mags, please speak up.
I recently moved from MA to TX, and I'm still carrying 10rd mags. I don't think I'll be able to conceal the 17's (with x-grips), but I'd really like to get a pair of 12's. |

Talked to one of the guys at Quantico Tactical yesterday, they are getting a big shipment in the next week or so. He didn't have an exact price but quoted me "around 35.99". They will be sending an email out once the mags come in.

Anyone have any experience with those used mags from Bud's? I snagged a pair, don't really care if the finish is messed so long as they work.
I bought a 9c and was looking for some 12 rounders but at this point I'll take what I can get. |

The two used mags I purchased from Bud's were only noticeable worn when viewed up close. I picked up the used ones primarily for practice so I did not so much care about aesthetics. I did however mark them to track issues and through two months of shooting and four competitions I have not had a single failure of any kind.

Side note: I have 3 "square retention plate" mags and 4 bud specials (All four mags had the circle style retention plates. MIne Look new as well I am thinking of picking 5 more up today from buds. So ordered 5 more based on the 5 I just got. All of them look new and springs are strong. I rather be stocked up now then hoping in the future for more and with how the news is now reported we have public shootings everyday.

just ordered some from buds. If they have the round hole base plate then they are the 1st run magazines a few years old. Which is no problem, it means my fde base pads will fit without having to change the metal plate.
anyone know where to get mag rebuild kits (spring, follower) at a good price? |

Got the used mags in today. Beyond slightly chewed up floor plates the mags look brand new, complete with the newer rounded floor plate hole (if I'm understanding that correctly).
I was gonna buy some of those Xgrip adapters but they actually feel quite comfortable in my 9c just by themselves, pinky resting right on the mag. Thanks for the heads up guys.

Just got my mags from buds today as well. Looked new.
They were dirty on the inside and had the old style follower. Replaced the followers and cleaned them up. Good to go. |

Word around the campfire is that it is or was a spring issue, as far as the shortage for s&w. It looks as though that may be fixed, hopefully. They've had plenty of tubes from mec-gar on hand for awhile now.

For some reason midway canceled my order...no big deal, glad I also ordered from buds or I would have been SOL. To others: got my used ones in from buds. I ordered replacement springs from smith and Wesson though. The springs are very weak in my used mags and the base pads are a little rough but nothing to hamper function. I would say when done with the springs they came out to about $25 each with shipping include for the mag and springs. Pretty good deal considering the supply demand. I wish I would have picked up more last year when they were $15 each around the net, new. |

I think it is safe to say the magazine shortage is over. I hope not too many panicked paid quadruple the price for a mag. However, I really do feel sorry for those in ban states that had to buy them up before laws went into effect. Those M&Pers got screwed unless they were willing to fork over crazy cash.

S&W has realized that magazine scarcity was hurting the sale of M&P pistols.
What you are seeing is the beginning of an effort by S&W to permanently flood the market with M&P magazines to drive down the prices and take away magazine scarcity as a reason to buy an M&P. Just to give you an order of magnitude, we had just shy of 10,000 magazines for this promotion. FYI: Quantico Tactical is, by a factor of ~5, S&W's largest LE/Military/1st Responder distributor. We have long term programmed orders in with S&W for LE/Military program guns and, even during the height of the buying craze, we rarely had more than a 2-3 back order on M&P-15s and M&P pistols (not to say that we didn't have occasional longer outages of specific models). We receive pallets of S&Ws into our distribution center every week. When I get time, I will post M&P porn for everyone. One other note: We wanted to get all of the orders out the door today, but we had some government contract shipping which had to take precedence. We still have ~100 orders of M&P mags unshipped, which will ship on Monday. Rest assured we have plenty of mags in stock to cover all orders. |
