I wish I could justify a .327 Fed Mag SP101 3" to myself. I'd say much the same about a 327 LCRx with 3" barrel, but the SP101 version I can theoretically get.

Theory probably is correct. Seems like anything close to what I would settle for is cataloged but not in manufacturing nor warehouses. I was looking for the adj sight 4” sp101, kept finding fixed sights, 3” barrels or GP100 pistols. |

I was going to get a 4” SP101 around 2020. Nobody local had them in stock but they were available. I put it off, then prices started going up, and then they became much less available.
Maybe next time they do a run of them. |

I wish Lipseys or somebody would buy a run of model 16 4”, call em Model 16 Classics.
In the old days i think for a custom run the factory said they’d make you anything as long as it was a 200 peice run. Ha, I could get an FFL, order a 200 gun run and corner the market! Likely only need about $140-160 thousand. Chump change. |

Thank you all for the discussion and ideas. Hopefully someone in the industry catches some of this chatter and realize what an opportunity there is. I chuckle when I realize 25 years ago most of the mentioned guns didn’t sell because those buyers were buying and shooting 357s. and 45s. Now those hands are 25 years older and they are buying 30SC and 38Spcl wadcutters. They are buying guns that are skinnier and lighter because that sciatica thing is a bitch. All the while S&W and Ruger keep pumping out new models to accommodate these needs, never thinking about looking at their own catalog of past products. Just for comparison Colt rereleased 50 year old products and sells every one. It’s as if the customer never got older.

There's always a wide range of customers. It doesn't change the fact that 38/357 works for the vast majority and is widely available and cheaper.

You’re both right.
They really don’t keep up on production so the factories are using their capacity well. If they make it they get it sold. It is harder to motivate them to changeover a production line on an item that sells well enough that the warehouse inventory is always moving. There is an opportunity sitting there to meet desires of aficionados of less popular items. Ruger seems to be famous for letting a catalog item run dry and not schedule production of that item for two years or better. They either won’t expand and get caught over invested if things slow down or they cannot hire and train to meet the need and are content just going as is. |

 Everybody should have a .32...the little Colt is a .32 S&W, 100+ yrs old. The Ruger is a target revolver in .327. I admit I handload a low-power wadcutter for targets. |

Right now 32 H&R ammo is so expensive.
If you have reloading components, it would be easy to load however. |

Yes, .32 is and always has been a reloaders cartridge. Many options and economical. During an ammo crisis one can shoot .32 cheaper than .22...At least that what I tell myself. heh

I spent too much time deployed, and had only heard of the Rugers, which were uninspiring for me at the time. I don’t think any of the LGSs had them. A missed opportunity, for sure. |

I've been looking for a Ruger single seven model 8163 for 30 months. It is a Lipseys exclusive. Put a deposit with a dealer in January 2022. I talked to two different Ruger reps at gun shows and they said they will be available eventually. Yesterday at the Ohio Gun Collectors show I found one. LNIB, never fired with 200 rounds of Speer gold dot, $1,450. I offered $1,200 and we settled on $1,300. Value of the ammo is about $230.00.
As other posters mentioned a LCR 3" is desirable. |

32s weren’t on my radar 20 years ago. Now I know more and my needs have changed and I want a .32 H&R Airweight and they’re $2000 on Gunbroker.

Did a search on Gunbroker, revolver category and selected 327 for the caliber and a bunch of LCR's popped up in the results, 1 7/8 barrel & fixed sights; asking price range is $600-$699. |

Yes, most manufacturers only do runs of 32 caliber guns every now and then, typically making 500-1000 at a time. Last big run was when 327 was introduced and many of the guns made for it haven't been generally available since then. Hopefully S&W will make another run next year of the 632 or do a Model 16 run. Generally Ruger has done a better job of supporting the caliber, currently you should be able to get a Single7 as well as the LCR in 327, they are available from the distributors Lipsey's and Davidsons, maybe an SP101 might still be on the shelves of your local store. But the Henry lever guns, GP100, 632's and Taurus's are all out-of-stock and have been for a while. |

I don't have any .32 revolver cartridges in use right now, nor do I currently have the ability to reload (may change in the foreseeable future), but probably the 3" 357/38 Sp101 or LCRx would be a better fit for my actual uses and ammo already to hand than adding another cartridge. The .32 version does offer some advantages on paper, but California is a PITA (almost mistyped as "puta", which is also accurate now that I think on it) when it comes to buying ammunition, and I do have a decent stock of .38 and a smaller stock of .357 already. Eventually I'll have to "get both" though. |

I always thought it would be cool to have a 4” N frame, Scandium with titanium cylinder (like a 329PD) but with a 10 round cylinder in 327.

I have an LCRx as well, great gun. I stocked up on a decent amount of .327 before the 2020 stuff, and have some .32 H&R from a 432 j frame I had. I don’t really have a use for it, it would be a great belt carry revolver for outdoors or sd but I usually carry a semi auto for that or a sp101 4” .357. The lcr is a little chunky for pocket carry so I prefer the j. To me .32 h&r is too anemic, like a .380 and full power .327 is closer to .357 in the recoil department. It still isn’t more versatile imo than .38sp +p or mild .357 out of light weight small framed revolvers.
To me it’s the perfect caliber for the LCRx if you prefer to carry a revolver for sd because it gives 6 rounds of 9mm+p or greater performance but with less recoil than .357. Right now I think you’re limited to Federal hydrashok 85gr, which is pretty anemic, or Buffalo Bore for hollow points and Underwood Lehigh. Federal is supposedly coming out with a 110gr or something hst round. |
