.357 Maximum Ammo

Anyone have a source? Doubt it's being neckbearded. Have a Ruger and want 50-100 rounds just to last me the rest of my life. No really interested in getting the components to reload for it considering the very low round count it will ever see.

I bought a 500 piece box of Remington brass years ago.

Considering the only Max I have is a single shot I'm set for life.

My 150gr hand loads make 2450fps from a 20" barrel, a true 300 yard deer rifle. Its essentially a 300 Savage in a straight wall cartridge. Legal to hunt deer with in several states.

I was hoping S&W would come to the plate and chamber the x frame revolver in it.
Make it 6 shot.
Would go good with my 460.
Seems they don't give a rip what anybody wants though.

And with those little sheet metal inserts you probably would never have to worry about flame cutting.

I'm helping my FFL buddy at his shop & I just sold 250 pcs of .357 max brass as part of a deal. First time in 25 years I'd even had someone acknowledge having that caliber. More rare than the .41 mag, IMO.

I just picked up some from Graf’s for $58 a box. It’s Precision Cartridge 180gr. HP XTP so I’m not sure how it’ll shoot. I’ve shot their 9mm magnum and it was some dirty stuff.

When I ran a counter at a LGS, people had heard of and looked for .41 Mag occasionally. People did the

when .357 Maximum was even mentioned. So yeah, I'd say it's considerably more rare.

Ive seen it pop on gunbroker and started bidding on it since it was so cheap. I dont even own one. Keep a look out and wait for a fair deal if you're not press for it. Save ya some coin.

Easier to find that than .375 or .441 Super Mag thats for sure

Local store has a Blackhawk chambered in it and on the original box you can see that Ruger sent it to Wiley Clapp. Not much of a history guy but always thought that was nifty.

The only Max handgun I'd buy for shooting would be a Contender.

Rifles are where it's at.

I can't remember. They probably still have it as most people don't even know what they are let alone to ask for them. It was Mark Fore and Strike in Reno. Wiley lives in the area and would frequent the store when I worked there.

Some of the .357 Magnum H&R barrels are cut deep enough to shoot .360 Dan Wesson without rechambering.
But if you want to shoot .357Max, you'll need an ultra rare Max barrel, or a Max chamber reamer.

Speaking of which, is .360DW even rarer than .357Max?

Never tried the DW, but I reamed my Handi to Max years ago. Took very minimal effort as the factory chamber was quite long.
