When I open it to browse to a folder, file, it randomly closes either the folder or the entire "tree".
It happened before, I googled it and fixed it. I've tried numerous "fixes" today and none are working. Windoze 11.. Anyone experience this or know a fix that works? |

Nope, I ditched wincrap a few years ago.
Make sure your system is up to date. If feeling adventurous, download linux, flash to USB drive, and test drive linux. For wincrap users I recommend to use Zorin OS, build from Ubuntu which is a distro of Debian. https://zorin.com/os/download/17/core/ |

did you happen get hit by a windows update and it started to happen after. or did you just install anything and it started to happen?
if the computer is pending updates, it can act a fool until you reboot and they are installed |

This may sound stupid, but are you using a wireless mouse? I've had similar issues with a wireless mouse that desperately needed new batteries.

It happened to me before and after some google fu I fixed it.
I tried google again and nothing I tried worked. It did an update a few days ago and the problem started not long after. It was working fine this morning then started doing it again. This time I noticed it would do it when I browsed to my external hard drive.. For the heck of it I power cycled the hd and it fixed it...so far. lol I do use a wireless mouse and keyboard but have for years. I'm going to do a virus and malware scan on the external tomorrow just to see if it has a bug. |

is there a good alternate to file explorer out there?
I've tried everything suggested online including tips from microsuck themselves and nothing works.. apparently this is a known bug they have failed to fix.  I use it every day to access 3D files..well when it doesn't crash every 5 seconds.. |

I would just continue opening the files manually from within the program that is going to use them. That is a very odd issue have you run malware bytes adwcleaner? https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner |

To me it Looks like an external drive is failing or being stupid
is there an external drive you can unplug to see if this stops? |

Since it's no mentioned yet have a look in windows event viewer to see if you're having a consistant
