Red Dawn (1984)

The  series of sentences that sets the stage before the movie title appears. Chilling at the time.

Yup^^^^

The Godfather. No special effects or explosions, just great acting by Brando.

Night of the Living Dead. Dusk in a creepy cemetery with glimpses of some old guy shambling toward the protagonists through the headstones.

The Exorcist. Not exactly the opening scene, but Ellen Burstyn's walk down the October streets of Georgetown while "Tubular Bells" plays on the soundtrack sets an ominous mood.
