The gun boats were brought in when Rick Perry was governor. The Ranger Recon Teams were also started and the surveillance network grid that covers the border region was started. Lots of low cost mixed with high tech monitoring going on that isn't talked about.

The gun boats and air ships have been used often against cartel operations. The cartels will drive a large SUV into the US loaded down with drugs and when pursued by LE they turn and make a run back for the Rio Grande and drive right into the water trying to save their drugs and get them back to the Mexican side. They throw caltrops out at pursuing LE vehicles to flatten their tires as they run back to the river. The boats set up a perimeter and allow for the drug seizures in the water.
It's the job of the federal government to secure our border and not the state, however, we all see that our borders are not being protected and the current administration isn't helping. |
