Ive used it for a number of years now on my own hardware, not got this SG-1100 and their docs on how to do a router on a stick is confusing as hell.

I have a router on a stick for my home network.  I built a E3-1245v5 machine and it's on a 10GbE switch for the backbone.  What do you want to know?  Setup?

Start out by going into Interfaces->VLANs and set up your VLANs.  At minmium, you'll want two.  One for management and one for your network.  If you want to set up Guest network, etc you can do that too.  After you have the VLANS assigned, you'll want to assign them to an interface.  I have all mine assigned to the same 10GbE interface on my machine.  After that, connect your switch.  That'll be the trunk port.  You'll have to set up VLANs in the switch, with all VLANs going through your trunked line.  After that, you're good to go assigning each VLAN to the ports you plan on using.

This dude does a good job of explaining it.

The link I posted was for a netgear switch, but he also does the setup for a cisco and mikrotik switches too.
