View Quote I looked at that picture and felt like I was about to get called out on the streets of Tombstone at high noon. |

I watched a Cooper like that one grab a Gadwall duck out of the air that flushed in front of our boat. The hawk grabbed the duck by the ass and held onto it while they both plummeted to the water below.
Upon hitting the water, I guess the Cooper let go and the Gadwall dove. I'm certain that Gadwall was missing a big chunk out of its ass after that. We seem to have a lot of those birds in my area and they are really neat, spectacular flyers. |

Quoted: Breast is not barred, beak is not all grey/black. I think it's a juvenile red-tailed hawk. Edit on second thought the banding in the tail is wider than a juvenile red-tailed, so it might be coopers. Edit on second thought the banding in the tail is wider than a juvenile red-tailed, so it might be coopers. It’s an immature Coopers hawk, possibly a sharp shinned hawk but most likely a coopers. Red-taileds don’t have the big bar pattern on their tails, they have a bunch of little bars. |

It's really amazing to see those guys shooting through bushes and coming out like a rocket.

A couple years ago, I had to stop for a bald eagle eating road kill in the middle of the road. I sat there and watched him for about five minutes until he dragged it off in the ditch and I could pass. |

I have a bunch of them on my property. I've seen mating fights way up in the sky, with 2 males battling it out as the female circled above them waiting to see who won. They are magnificent birds.

View Quote The S22 Ultra cameras are truly pretty impressive. I've long scowled at people saying their cell phone cam is just as good, and while SLRs obviously truly reign supreme, the S22 Ultra made me realize that point and shoot/pocket cameras really are obsolete now. |

Coopers Hawk.
I get one in my backyard pretty often. I had one try to fly thru my sliding backdoor, knocked himself silly for a few minutes, freaked out and flew into the screen door and clawed the hell out of it to the point where I had to replace the screen. |
