I'm looking to make a rifle chassis for a .22LR by cutting up some 1/8 aluminum sheet and then epoxying them onto the sides of square tubing

i dont have a welding machine but was wondering if JB weld or any type of epoxy glue will hold up the sides?

Yes.. some resin glues are extremely strong. You should be fine. I would sand and mate each surface to give the epoxy resin something to bite into.

yea ill plan to sand or make some divots into them so it has something to bite

do you have any brand names of those resin glues?

Any of the 2 part epoxy resin glues would work fine... I would suggest 90 minute cure stuff.. gives you a chance to mix up a batch, and do it all at once, then use clamps to hold the pieces together. Walk away for day and you'll have a solid piece to work with. Sand.. with a 80 grit or so, it gives a rough surface to bite into. Divots not so much. It'd be strong enough to machine.. deal with much more recoil as well. Its overkill for a .22 honestly.

Loctite makes several versions available just about anywhere..

Not JB weld, but I have used this and can attest to its bond. I suggest etching first.

I've gotten 2-part epoxy to hold up to 3” 12 ga 00 buck recoil.
