Which one is best? I have examples of both but I tend to lean toward Wiley simply because I have fairly strong script and Wiley seems to have more accommodating frames. I like a lot of Oakley sunglasses...
I have these in clear transition tint for shooting Attached File And these for straight prescription sunglasses.... Attached File And these for sunglasses when I’m wearing contacts... Attached File |

Can’t answer your question but would like to add, which fits large frame heads the best?

My last shooting glasses were Wiley's, my new ones are Oakley.
I like my Oakley's slightly better but honestly I think it's just personal preference. Don't think you could go wrong with either. |

Wiley x have tougher lenses.
Have tried both in construction Oakley always scratch faster Current my prescription glass are wiley x gravity because I needed the foam face seal for work |
I wear both. My normal everyday eyeglasses are Oakley and the frames seem to last forever. All of my sunglasses and safety glasses are Wiley X. I do like Wiley X factory lenses a lot. Really can’t go wrong with either brand.
FYI- The Wiley X P17, Air Rage, Curve work very well with strong scrips, no distortion at all. Frames like the Boss and Roamer will have distortion at the outer edges and possibly the nose piece (Boss). Wiley X will sell you glasses knowing there might be slight distortion so, keep that in mind. |
I wear those same Oakleys as I keep them in my car for driving. I use my Wylie’s for shooting and other active outdoor activity. No prescription though.

One is Luxottica trash made in China.
At least some of Wiley-X's products are still made in the USA. |
I don't know anything about Wiley X but they seem pretty cool.
I have had the same Oakley Rx Flak Jackets for 12 yrs. I just change the lenses. I really like them. |
I own some old Oakleys, back before Luxottica.
It's almost time to replace them. I'm trying to avoid luxottica, which drastically reduces the brands I'm considering. Wiley X looks like a contender. |
Is it me or have Wiley X and ESS glasses increased dramatically in price? Weren’t all their products like sub $50 at some point?
I had to make the choice a couple of years ago. WileyX fit my head better, and that's what my prescription sunglasses have been ever since.
Other than the issued stuff, I haven't tried Wiley X.
I've been rocking Oakley RX stuff for a long time. |
Oakely M 3.0's or the Scott Elite have the thinest legs I have tried... if you are using for hearing protection, I would recommend either. Probably Oakely first.

Where do Magpul fit in? I forgot about them so I added them and a poll...
Used Wiley-Xs for shooting glasses. No experience with Oakleys because I went price point. The Magpul option looks interdasting.
I would probably get a pair of magpul at some point if I could confirm which models accept prescriptions. The one that I know of I don’t like.
I like my Wiley better than my Oakleys. Never tried magpul...
Only had issued Wiley goggles, used Oakleys for a long time but after the last pair of frames lost a screw I tried out the Magpul line. They fit me well and were cheaper so I went with them. When they went on clearance last year I bought a few more pairs. No complaints but I also don't have Rx versions.

I got about four pairs of the Magpuls on sale recently. I like them a lot so far and the price was tough to beat.

Tried most now use gatorz still have some Oakley glasses. Really like the gatorz though
I like the old flak jacket xlj. When I can’t find or repair them anymore it’ll be Wiley x.

A Wiley X dealer came by an FFL friend about a decade ago, back then there was over 100% markup with msrp vs. wholesale, and that was with just a small minimum order to become a dealer. Honestly it may have been more than 100% but I can't remember exactly it just stuck in my mind how absurd the markup was.

I guess not that many people here wear these sort of glasses, I figured more people would have gave input.

Full disclosure. I read very little of the posts about which glasses. With that said, I have pair of Wiley X sunglasses. They are now 6 years old. The “arms” were worn out. E mailed the manufacturer and asked how much to replace. They sent me new “arms” free. Excellent customer service.

Quoted: I stick with the 3M Virtua sunglasses that cost $5 and are made in Taiwan. When they get scratched or break, I get a new pair. I buy 24 pairs of glasses at the welding supply store. 12 sunglasses, and 12 clear lenses. I have new issue Wiley X glasses in my desk drawer I have never worn. |

Was issued Wiley X on active duty and I really liked them. Had Oakley and they didn't last long. Never tried Magpul, most likely never will.
I have worn oakleys for over 20yrs. I haven't found a better pair of sunglasses that fit, are as light weight, and has protected my eye balls as much as they have.
