So he would most likely have been a strong man from doing physical labor.

Wait? Only Catholics can see statues of Christ? Is this a superpower!?! Was it granted to us at baptism or were we just born with this power?

OP, I understand the point that you are making.  It is probable that he had some notable physical strength, considering his trade.

I don't know how 'big' he was.  I don't know if it matters very much at all.  But as you point out, he probably had some physical strength and probably didn't resemble a physical weakling of a man.

Also worked as a painter/taper for a few years and that guy wouldn't have been capable of destroying entire walls for minor repairs. Painters would cringe if they followed a carpenter repair in a near final build.

Ahh...a carpenter's been here.  But his repair is on the opposite wall...Why'd he make this hole? Oh... right... because he had a hammer and just like Christ with water into wine he wanted to prove he could.

Lol.

Anyway, it may be because if medieval depictions of piety and not emphasizing the flesh.   Make him appear humble and submissive by being the image of human weakness.
I always wondered about that as well.   He is depicted by different cultures in different ways.

He was real as a human as documented in a couple of contemporary sources like Josephus and some Roman record, as I understand it.
How you deal with the gospel of his death, burial and resurrection is up to you.

Historicity of Jesus is shaky at best and there are no contemporary references.

While Western culture is accustomed to depictions of Jesus as a lanky white guy with long, straight, perfectly-conditioned hair, or, much less often, as a modern-day black man living in Compton, scientists have a completely different idea of what the real man actually looked like.

Through the process of forensic anthropology they've constructed the image above to demonstrate the appearance of an average man of Jesus' time, place and background, Popular Mechanics explains.

While they admit that the face above is certainly not the actual face of Jesus, it is likely vastly closer to reality than the face we usually associate with him.

Although Jesus' body isn't depicted, the average Semite man of that time was 5-foot-1 and about 110 pounds, so Jesus was probably a lot shorter than you'd imagine, too.

Whether or not jesus existed, or was real, was never really the debate. There are so many different accounts of him, not just in the bible.

If you want to say GOD and heaven, etc is all made up, well then that you could debate, but most all historians believe that he existed.

If crucifixes featured a small, dirty, under-nourished hairy fellow with curly hair and a hooked nose it would negatively impact revenue.

"I still can't help wondering how we can explain away what to me is the greatest miracle of all and which is recorded in history. No one denies there was such a man, that he lived and that he was put to death by crucifixion. Where  is the miracle I spoke of? Well consider this and let your imagination translate the story into our own time possibly to your own home town. A young man whose father is a carpenter grows up working in his father' shop. One day he puts down his tools and walks out of his father's shop. He starts preaching on street corners and in the nearby countryside, walking from place to place, preaching all the while, even though he is not an ordained minister. He never gets farther than an area perhaps 100 miles wide at the most. He does this for three years. Then he is arrested, tried and convicted. There is no court of appeal, so he is executed at age 33 along with two common thieves. Those in charge of his execution roll dice to see who gets his clothing the only possessions he has. His family cannot afford a burial place for him so he is interred in a borrowed tomb.

End of story?

No, this uneducated, property-less young man has, for 2,000 years, had a greater effect on the world than all the rulers, kings, emperors; all the conquerors, generals and admirals, all the scholars, scientists and philosophers who have ever lived all of them put together. How do we explain that unless He really was what He said He was?"

Been a major disinformation campaign against him in this world since the day he was born into the human race.
Likely there was a disinformation campaign against him in Heaven as well that lead up to the rebellion that saw 1/3 of the company of Heaven thrown out
and down upon the earth.
Those enemies of Christ and their human counterparts are not going to stop with their lies until the day of judgement.
