Does he have a giant ego? Or maybe just a marketing thing? Or is he afraid black people won't watch if they don't know it's his? I've only seen a very small amount of the Madea stuff but it got old quick. Can't believe he made a career out of that, but more power to him I suppose.

He can do it all he wants, but it does seem a bit narcissistic/ostentatious.
|
|
It's like that guy who yells "Mustard on the beat" in all his songs.
Ego, I guess. |
|
Branding. He is making sure his audience knows what it is to ensure ticket sales and the like.
|

to help folks know they don't have to watch that one....easy to skip when you see "tyler perry's..."

Imagine if we grew up with "Stephen Spielberg's Indiana Jones" or "George Lucas's Star Wars." Put your name prominently in the credits, but let the title be about the work, not you. |
|
It's not for the black people.
He adds his name because he's built his brand as black entertainment that's safe for white folks. |
|
Maybe because it gets people like you to talk about him more?

Tyler Perry makes shows about loud obnoxious stereotypical black people, for loud obnoxious stereotypical black people. It’s the same reason every National Lampoon movie has “National Lampoon’s:” in the title. So the viewer knows exactly what they’re getting without any research or thought beyond the title. |

The same reason some posters on arfcom put their name at the end of every post they make.

Maybe he’s Boule? Not my assertion but more informed folks say so. More Factz podcast iirc. My memory is spotty.

Because he is a brand that sells? Like Trump putting his name all over stuff.

It lets me know it’s a movie i need to avoid subjecting myself to.

He has One Billion reasons shy his name is on every title.
Billion. With a B He started the Madea thing doing small live church shows. Since Euripides made the original Medea, when he did his plays he would have to include his name so people didn't mistake his Madea with the classical Greek play. Then, his success grew...to one billion dollars. Trump does the same thing. Lots of people do. |

Mike Jones... Mike Jones... Mike Jones..., etc. Just a thing some do to ensure recognition / branding.
|

It is a need for recognition due to insecurity, most likely. This is common in black communities. If you spend any time in black neighborhoods, you will see all sorts of billboards for churches and businesses where the biggest feature of the sign is the owner's face (sometimes with his or her spouse), and the owner's name. You may also notice fliers for people's birthday parties, or other such events, that are printed up to look like some sort of playbill for a big Hollywood premier. "Shitty Productions Presents: Some Woman's 21st Birthday featuring Some Asshole and DJ Ballsack". Their lives are mostly empty, and meaningless, so they need to make a spectacle.
In short, people like him love to see their faces and names on things, no matter how trivial, because it is some form of empowerment. |

I think it's a vibrancy thing that you fucking racist honkies are never gonna understand.

Not sure, but I do know that I've never watched one of his movies.

Dude is worth over $1 BILLION, it seems to work out pretty damn well for him.

His fan base consists of white women, virtue signaling white men and hypocritical blacks who sit in church every Sunday condemning homosexuality but then go home and watch a Madea movie. They’ll watch anything he does simply because he’s black. These folks get really mad if you point out their hypocrisy. A few will admit they believe he’s down low.
It’s a game, they pretend he’s not gay and he never publicly admits it. It’s a shame that black culture is so homophobic that even the most successful black men can’t be themselves. |

So I know which movies to avoid at the theater?
He must be a really nice guy. |

Quoted: Tyler Perry University sounds like it'd be a lot of fun. View Quote With all the Black supremacy get whitey critical race theory ideology in Universities today, every University might as well have "Tyler Perry's" in front of it. In fact, I demand this be a thing, like product warning labels. |
