So what's that, less then 2 cents a shot? I bought a ton of this stuff when it was on sale along with a bunch of Federal Gold Medal match .22 for cheap. |

That shit didn't like to run in my M&P 15-22. Bent the brass nearly 45 degrees trying to chamber a round.

I bought a case of that - twelve of the 525-count boxes - one time, for about that price, and still have a few hundred rounds of that case left.
The Federal Champion stuff was a MUCH better value when it was around $1/50 in the '00s and the last of it I bought was at Academy Sports in 2010ish for $1.49/50 and that was still a bargain. I chrono'ed some of the Golden Bullet stuff once and the extreme spread was around 200', IIRC. Absolute garbage. But it goes bang. My kids will happily shoot up what's left of it, along with the Thunderbolts that aren't much better. |

About 20% of those won't fire, so you have to factor that in.

It would be really mean to sell that to someone who doesn't know the history of Golden Fail

Quoted: It would be really mean to sell that to someone who doesn't know the history of Golden Fail View Quote During the last panic, I sold a couple bricks of it to a guy with young kids, just getting into shooting. He tried to give me $45 a brick, and I told him $15. That it was barely worth that. Donated the rest to a charity auction, went for about $60 a brick. |

I have some of that, shoot it mainly in my Ruger Single Six. It’s fine in the revolver. Plenty of other options for semi rifles. I remember when 22 was $.50 / 100, $9.99 / 500. Hell I think it was $.25 a box when I was just a kid and could buy it at the hardware store.

I have a bunch of this stuff also, about $1.25 per 50. I bought this entire lot up locally as in my scoped Ruger MKII, it will do 1/4 at 25 yards. Everything else to include any other lot of superX isn't even close. I actually had a range nazi/officer yell at me that I was missing the target [Sharon Valley] until I showed him the target to shut him up.

Cheapest I bought was $.67 a box at K-Mart in Erie, PA. Must have been... 2004, 2005? I bought as much as I had money for, which was quite a bit. I think it was American Eagle LRN 40gr.

Pfft hi-velocity, hard pass, I like to shoot things further than 100 yards with .22lr.

That 7.99 would get you.... 57 .22LR's at the best prices I've spotted today.

I sent 5 boxes back to remington and got a refund years ago. It is great for ftf drills.

It will be the very difficult to top the value that was the Federal 1600rd Black Packs of 22LR that came out under 2 cents per round after rebate, and turned out to be CCI minimags, and the most reliable 22LR I have ever shot.

View Quote I still haven’t shot any of it yet. I have tons of other .22 LR. When I was on the waiting list for my Lage 22 kit for my M11, I would by a bulk pack of 22 every time I went to Walmart. I bought a lot because I was on the list for about. A year. I have never installed the kit. I still have it in the box and all the 22 ammo I bought for it. |

Do you remember, Thanksgiving of 2018, Academy had the 1,600 round Federal Black Pack cases, which after rebate, came to $49? Shipped. I got 5 cases then. Came to 3 cents a round.
Still have them. We'll probably never see that again. |

I still have a few boxes of Winchester Wildcat that I bought for 69 cents per box, from K-Mart, on a raincheck...

Summer of 2008, the owner of the gunshop I hung out / helped out after work said that 22LR may tighten up and I should get all I expected to shoot for the next year or so. I went to 3 Walmarts and got 40 some boxes of the Federal 525 packs at $11.97. I still have 20 from that original buy and have significantly added to the pile. Sold 10 of those boxes and it paid for the other 30 I kept. Even back then I knew I eventually wanted to get a full auto 22 so I knew I would need to have plenty of food for it. Anytime I've sold ammo I've always made it a point to set that money aside and use it only for ammo or ammo reloading components. With 22 long rifle bringing damn near $0.20 a round on GunBroker I've been very tempted the part with some. Primers I'll hold on to. |
