Fuck that OP, you're doing exactly what me and my wife do! Adventure isn't a cruise or Ritz Carlton/resort. Get your ass into the real world...that's what we do and that's the best type of vacation!

Was just going to comment that the OP’s environment looks ripe for concealing junior alien predators seeking combat experience on this planet.

Had a couple of howler monkeys come by while we were eating dinner.  Was a slow Tues night for that place, we were there only customers.  The staff and my wife and I stopped and watched the monkeys for a few minutes.

Hiked all around Matapalo today.  Was lots of monkeys, a few snakes, tons of different birds and this guy.

Staying same place tonight then heading for a farm in Drake bay tomorrow!

I miss it. We sold our coastal lot last year after a business partnership we were in dissolved under ugly circumstances. We were planning on taking the funds and buying a couple hundred acres from my MIL in Mexico, but the priest in my wife’s hometown just got dragged out of bed and murdered in the hillside for speaking about the cartel during mass a few months ago so that killed those plans as well. Currently looking at a couple eco village lots in Costa Rica, but I can’t stand to live around leftist eurotrash.

I almost stepped on a poison dart frog there on a little excursion.  Costa Rica is  one of my top favorite places in the world.  There is just so much to freely do there.

Enjoy it!

Don't let anyone talk you into Baldi Hot Springs instead as they suck.

Enjoyed my 10 days in Costa Rica.

DOKA Plantation coffee is great.  Use to be priced right as well but it's been creeping up the last year or so.   I buy in bulk a few times a year.  Ships through SW Fl and USPS delivers within a week or so.

So ran into a few small issues and couldn’t update as I had intended.  My phones charging port got wet at the beach and my phone was dead for two days until I found a sit on charger in Palmer Norte on the way out of Matapalo.  We then went to Drake bay for two nights and it came a torrential storm, small landslides, trees down, river swelled making it impossible to get to our Airbnb.  We ended up in a pretty decent hotel in town.  Worked out ok considering.  We did go to Corcovado National park.  Very cool trip and hike.
Some pics from the park

Tapir we were very lucky to see.

I have lots of pics, some not in order because of my phone dying.  I’ll try to label them correctly.

Frog I licked at King Luis Waterfall in Matapalo

Monkeys at same waterfall (monkeys are everywhere, I just stop taking pics of them after a day or two)

Old helicopter we saw somewhere along the road.  Kudus for whomever knows what it is.

Fun fact!!  The agouti (small rabbit like rodent) will start twerking if it sees a snake!  We have seen this twice so far.  They are not very smart animals lol.

Don't fear where you put your hands because of the snakes in Costa Rica.
Beware you put your feet because I believe that the leading cause of death for tourists is drowning.

Did some off-roading today.  Was Awesome!  Our guide/business owner was wide open.  He said this wasn’t a grandpa speed tour and he kept his word.  We had a blast.  Tonight’s the last night in the bus.  Tomorrow we head to San Jose for our last night in Costa Rica

Been all over most countries in Central America sans El Sal. Only a couple so far in South America but I’m slowly working on seeing as much of that continent as I can.

It’s almost sad how many folks brag about never wanting to travel to the third world like you are or how “dangerous and foolhardy” it is to live life a little by getting out there to do cool shit.

We did some swimming in the river as well.  It was crystal clear until we blasted around in it on the side by sides, don’t know why we did t just wait a few.

And of course afterwards, dos margaritas!

I wouldn’t say it is, to be honest. The roads, markets and infrastructure a bit too good. But the original meaning of “third world” meant something else than poor or undeveloped.

I actually prefer a bit more rustic. But it certainly is a very cool place. One of maybe two Central American countries you really don’t hear of where people are trying to escape to the U.S.

No masses of people in Costa Rica trying to flee “climate change” for a better life amongst the evil Gringos..
