Depends on the application.. 3 gun is different than hunting than home defense.

HD/Duty gun? Red dot. (if you have astigmatism then get a TA44 or prismatic optic with etched reticle)
Hunting? Magnified optic (not LPVO)
3-gun sport. LPVO.

YMMV.

There is no "do all" optic. Everything is a compromise. The mission/intent picks the gear.

It's very application dependent. For long range I'm using a Bushnell XRS and Razor 2.

For pseudo machineguns, I go a bit cheaper with Burris AR336's.

My AR is for short to 300 yds max.  I am using a Vortex Huey Holo sight with a Vortex 3x magnifier for those times when I have the luxury of extra time to setup a shot.

Bushnell AR223 1-4x24

Off the top of my head right now.  There are several more laying around.  These are all on AR15s, except for one AR10.

I really like the little 1-4x24 GRSC for some reason, but they're discontinued.  They're compact, glass is really clear, reticle is actually useful, lightweight.

Just got in 2 of the GRSC 1.1-10x30 Full Spectrum Optics for testing/review.  Mounted one on my 12" Grendel and will put the other on a 16" or 18" Grendel for side-by-side shooting and reticle communication commonality.

I would love the NF NX8 1-8x24 to have the GRSC reticle and NF illumination.

The GRSC 1-6x24 is as robust as NF, but doesn't have the super bright NF illumination dot for CQB, but the reticle is still plenty useful for CQB.

NX8 is just smaller/more compact.

I've really gotten away from the super-large TGT rifle optics and have been focusing more on compact, high magnification factor LPVOs with useful reticles on Grendels for a grab-and-go solution, not necessarily a PRS gamer or LR-specific set-up because I want ubiquity across CQB to LR in as compact as a package as possible.

5 of my mounts are LaRue.  The rest are a mix.
